Mila sat uncomfortably in the small conference room, her leg bouncing up and down and her fingernails tapping against the table as she stared outside the open window. Hunter and Jason were quick to get cleaned up, and within twenty minutes, they had moved to a meeting room somewhere on the fifth floor.

A hand pressing against her thigh immediately grabbed her attention, causing her to freeze as her eyes shot to the side to see Hunter giving her a concerned look.

"You need to relax," he told her.

Mila tried to act calm, but it was hard when his intense eyes bore into hers and his hand was on her leg. She just nodded in response, and thankfully, he pulled his hand away which allowed her to breathe again.

"I got it!" Jason's voice suddenly yelled out.

Evelyn, who had been standing near the windows looking outside, turned to him with an unimpressed look, her hand going to her heart.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," he said, grinning at her as he placed a box of files down on the table.

"What is that?" Mila asked immediately, her eyes going over the papers inside.

"That is just some of the files we have on Psychotics," Jason told her, dusting off his hands. "Granted, it's from five years ago, but it could be useful."

Hunter frowned at him. "Why did you drag this out?"

"Sarge wanted me to go over some of it, see if there's anything on a Vincent Kane from our older files," Jason said. "I brought it just in case he wanted to see some of the work I've done."

"Is there a reason your boss asked to see us?" Evelyn asked, looking at him with a nervous look.

He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "There's something you should know about Kane."

"What is it?" Mila asked, straightening up in her seat.

"When we were interrogating that Psychotics dealer this morning, he told us some things," Hunter started. "Apparently, Vincent Kane is in the city."

Mila felt her heart drop down from her chest all the way to her feet. Evelyn's eyes widened, a frown overtaking her features.

"He got here last night," Jason added, watching both of them carefully.

"Then arrest him," Mila said, her eyebrows furrowing as to why they were just standing there. "He's in your jurisdiction, now, isn't he?"

       "We can't," Hunter said.

"Why the hell not?" Evelyn demanded.

"Because he is a powerful man," a new voice spoke out.

Everyone's head snapped towards the doorway where a familiar man stood. Mila frowned, recognizing Sergeant Wolfe right away. He was in the same uniform she saw him in last time, and he regarded them all with a hard stare as he walked into the room, closing the door behind him.

"Vincent Kane is one of the top donors to the Division Police Department," he told them. "He's got friends in high places, and he's careful. Nothing he does gets traced back to him."

"Basically, he's untouchable right now," Jason said, letting out a breath.

Mila's eyebrows furrowed as she looked over everyone's facial expressions in the room.
