I Want To Matter

Chapter 3

   "Be.. be affection less?" Donghyuck was wide eyed.
   "Yeah! Just don't give any affection! No hugs, no kisses, and no cuddles. If they keep pushing you away then just don't give anything and sooner or later they will realize how awful they were to you. Simple!" Jaemin gave Donghyuck and big smile. No affection? How on earth am I going to do that? I bet they wouldn't even notice anyway. It's not like they... "Haechan? Listen, don't think about it too much ok? They need to know what they're doing is wrong. They need to understand that you have feelings too and shouldn't just have those be pushed aside. I think you can do it and that..." the door was thrown open, cutting Jaemin off as Jeno walked into the room.
   "That is the worst idea Jaemin. The worst one I've ever heard."
   "Did you listen to our conversation Jeno?" Donghyuck glared, crossing his arms. Jeno clasped his hands together and looked at the wall next to him. He rocked back and forth.
   "Maybe. BUT to be fair, you guys were all secretive and kicked me out of my room. I was going to just listen a little by the door but then I stayed for the whole thing. Please don't be mad! I just didn't want to be left out!" Jeno was pouting and gave the boys his puppy dog eyes.
   "I'm not mad Jeno... I'm sorry if you felt left out but I was just so upset that I didn't know who to talk to." Donghyuck dropped his head and found an interesting spot of the floor to look at. Jeno walked over and kneeled down. He tilted Donghyuck's head up so they could meet.
   "Donghyuck, I know this is hard for you. I couldn't imagine how hurt you must feel, but this," he gestured to Jaemin, "this is not going to work. This plan will only cause more problems. You should explain to them how you feel. Talk to them. I know you think that they will make fun of you but you will never know unless you try." What Jeno said made sense to Donghyuck, but what Jaemin said made sense as well. He was now just as confused as ever and torn on what to do.
   "He doesn't have to ignore them or anything Jeno. He can still talk to them freely and play with them as normal, but if they don't want his affection why should he bother trying to give it to them?" Jeno sighed and shook his head at that.
   "Whatever you choose to do Donghyuck, I will support you 100%, but just know that I don't think this is the proper way to go." With that Donghyuck started looking back and forth between the two. He had two options and he could see the pros and cons for them both. But he could only pick one and he already had a feeling about which one that would be.
