Family Matters

Chapter two

Down in the cafeteria I bought us both something to eat, maybe that would keep her from talking I hoped. Of course I couldn't be that lucky, this girl seemed to like the sound of her own voice. "What exactly did you mean when you said Sean got in a fight?" she asked as soon as we sat down at a table not even looking at her food.

"Well I kind of thought the word fight was kind of self explanatory. He was walking home last night and got into it with someone, he was found passed out on the sidewalk."

"Way to sound real concerned. Did he tell you why he wanted me here?"

"No when the hospital called they said he kept asking for someone named Sara so I figured that I should probably bring you with. You are Sara right?"

"Yeah I'm Sara. I was with him last night, it must have happened sometime after he walked me home because he was perfectly fine the whole time I was with him."

"How romantic, who knew my brother was such a gentleman.," I said slightly disgusted. I hated hearing my brother talk about all the different girls he was with, I definitely did not want to hear it from her perspective also. "Just because I'm his twin that doesn't mean I can read his mind. Why don't you hold all your questions until we can go in and actually talk to him."

Sara glared at me but stayed quiet for the next hour, when the nurse came to tell us we could see him I attempted to flirt with her but I just kept finding myself watching Sara to see what her reaction was. She didn't even look phased which oddly made me angry. When we got to the room Sean was still bruised which was surprising because that should have healed by now. He must have been doing something to make sure that it didn't I guess it would look suspicious if his bruises healed in less than an hour, that wasn't exactly what people called normal. "What happened dude, run into a few girl scouts?" I asked not missing an opportunity to rag on him.

"Yeah word of advice: if they find you buy the thin mints."

"What happened?" Sara ask clearly not amused by us.

"I just ran into some people I know, some friends."

"What a great way to great way to greet each other. What kind of people do you know?"

"Okay I should just say I know them they aren't friends of mine, they're Lance's friends. In the dark they must have thought I was him. I don't know why though we look nothing alike."

"Yeah I got all the handsome genes. Are you ready to go Sara?" This visit had already gone on too long, sitting in wait had worn my patience and I just wanted to get out of here and take her home.

She was staring mouth a gap at the two of us, "Um just a minute, Sean why did you want me here?"
"Oh on my walk home I had been thinking about what we had talked about, I think you should probably change your number it's not safe for you if those people keep texting you." I didn't know much about this girl but even I knew that was a dumb move, no girl is stupid enough to think that they should have been drug into a hospital to hear that.

"Thanks for the advice," she said dryly, "let's go." She didn't say anything as we walked back out to my bike. "Just take me home," She whispered when she wrapped her arms around me.

I don't even think she noticed that she shivered when her hand brushed my bare arm or the way I tensed up when it happened. I didn't comment she seemed so distracted that she probably wouldn't have heard me and for once during this whole time she was absolutely quiet, she mumbled a thank you and floated into her house as soon as I came to a stop again.

After running home to get my car, no way was I driving the bike with my brother on bitch, I went back to the hospital. "Took you long enough," Sean grumbled getting into the car. It was funny to watch since his whole right leg was in a cast and so was his one wrist.
