I drove Sara to and from school the rest of the week with little to no resistance from her; I stuck around her house or followed her when she went places. I could smell them doing the same and it was killing me to be away from her. Sean knew what was going to happen and once he realized that I also knew he started avoiding her not wanting to cause any drama between us.

Saturday night Sara went to the beach and I followed keeping to the brush near by, she didn't do anything but sit in the sand staring out at the water and appeared to once again be lost in her thoughts. She looked amazing in the dim moonlight, her skin glowing and her hair shimmering like fire.

I heard the footsteps moments before she did, her spine stiffened and I could feel her fear coursing through my veins. She turned around slowly casting her eyes all over the beach and relaxed when she didn't see anyone but I did. I could see them standing near the road looking like normal people out for a walk but I would know those faces anywhere. I waited till all of them had their back to us and then made my move.

I ran out covering her mouth from behind so she wouldn't give me away and wrapped my other arm around her waist pinning her arms to her sides. I pulled her up onto her feet and walked quickly to the group of trees that were just past the bushes I had been hiding earlier, the whole time she thrashed in my arms trying to get free. I pulled her closer locking her more firmly in place. It only took seconds to be fully in the cover but it seemed to take much longer. "Stop moving would you," I hissed.

She sagged against my body and I could feel relief and anger replace her fear, slowly I loosened my arms from around her body. She elbowed me in the ribs shocking me into letting go of her completely. Sean had said she was a fighter. "What hell Lance?" she screamed.

"Keep your voice down they will hear you."

"Who's going to hear me?"

"The people I was telling you about, I was looking for them and found them following you."

"There is no one else here!"

"Yes there is, I know you heard them too. I saw you turning around looking for them. You're not very subtle."

"What I heard was you lurking on me."

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you, I just thought you would be happy that I kept you from meeting the people who put Sean in the hospital!"

"And you couldn't have thought of a better way than scaring me to death," I could still feel that she was scared but it was overshadowed by the anger. "You could have just sat down next to me and said hello like any normal person would have, you said as long as I wasn't alone I was safe."

"Well sorry I didn't feel like taking any chances," I said raking my fingers through my hair. "Look I really am sorry I didn't mean to scare you, I saw what could happen and just reacted. I didn't think."

"Next time try thinking it leads to better results, besides what does it matter you said I won't know what they want anyways."

"They're not going to believe you though and they will hurt you if they think that will get them the answers they want. I'm not going to let mine and Sean's past hurt you."

"Look I believe you that there really are these people trying to hurt you, Sean ending up in the hospital proved that, but I think you're blowing this all out of proportion. There is no reason to think they are going to hurt me, you said yourself that you guys think they might. You have no proof that they are even going to bother with me."

"I don't want to take any chances."

"So you're going to follow me around and deprive me of my privacy, I'm not going to let that happen. This is my life, something you have no say in. I can and will protect myself if it comes down to it."
