"Can you at least tell me when she'll wake up?" I heard Matt ask.

"All I can tell you is soon." I heard someone else say. Then a door close.

I open my eyes to a hospital room. I turn my head and see Matt on my left with his head in his hands. It reminded me of the time he waited for Vickie to wake up.

"Mattie?" My voice comes out as a croak. My throat extremely dry.

"Megan, thank God. I thought you were gone." Matt said as he blinked away the tears in his dark blue eyes.

   "What happened?"

"Stefan found you in the woods two nights ago. You have an animal bite on your neck." He signaled to the bandage on my neck. I heard him gulp. My eyes instantly go to his neck. I could hear his viens pumping blood.

   "Mattie, I'm scared." I croak.

"Don't worry, we'll get you back to my house and ready for school tomorrow. Your friend Aria's coming this weekend, right?" I nod and Matt stands up. He walks out ofof the room, probably to get the doctor.

I sigh and then the door opens again. I turn to the right to see her. The girl who never stopped running. The 500 year runaway.

   "Katherine." I croak.

"Hey, sweetie." She smiled at me as she runs her fingers through my hair.

"What did you do to me?" I ask.

"I'm making you better. Drink this." She said sweetly and hands me a styrafome cup. I smell what's inside and it smells like sweet grass in the spring. I take the cup and drink. It was smooth and had a rich taste to it. All I want is more. The straw makes a weird noise, signaling that its empty.

"I want more, Katherine." I said, my voice back to normal.

"Later, M. We have some work to do first. I need you to date Tyler Lockwood." She told me, her voice sweet and gentle. She reminded me of a caring mother, one that I never had.

   "But Damon..."

"M, this is gonna make me happy." She cut me off.

   "Okay."

"Good. Now this is very important, never take this ring off." Katherine said as she slides a beautiful ring on my finger. My eyes instantly glued to it.

It was admiring and hypnotizing. The azuli lapiz ring resting perfectly on my ring finger. The gold band holding the blue gem was breath taking.

"I love you, Miranda." She whispered before she kisses my forehead. The door opens again, but when I look up she's gone.

"Megan we can go. I brought you some clothes." Matt smiled as he put down a pair of white shorts and a black flowy short sleeve t-shirts. I smile back at him before he walks out.

I stand up and take off the white and blue polka dotted hospital gown. The I slip into the clothes. Finding my converse by the door, I walk out.

Matt waits for me by the front desk. We walk out of the hospital and then hop into his truck in the parking lot. I look at the dashboard, its 3:37 p.m. School's out.

"Do you work today?" I ask Matt.

"Not until 4. Are you hungry?"

   "Not really."

"Let's just go to the grill. Everyone's probably over there, anyways." He said and I nod.

Matt pulls the truck up to the Mystic Grill. We get out and walk inside. I spot Elena, Bonnie, and Stfean sitting and talking. Then I see Tyler playing pool with some other guys, who I suppose are on the football team.
