Our dad didn't wake up until around two in the afternoon, there was no way I was going to wake him up. But all day I've been watching the news and looking out the windows. If one of those infected people show up I don't really know what I'll do... the girls have asked me multiple times if they can go outside to play and I keep telling them no. So now I'm the worst sister in the world. I just tell them that yes I am the worst, because I still don't want to tell them what's going on...

                                                       ***************************************

"Dad, we've got to do something... Maybe get more guns? Board up the house, and stock up on groceries. That's what everyone else is doing... I don't want us to get stuck here without food or defense and one of those infected people show up."

"We're fine, this is all a hoax." my dad said, pouring a great amount of whiskey into his soda.

"The news says it's real, and it's getting bad... I've seen videos online and it's bad. We got to do something to prepare for until they fix all this."

"Dammit girl, go on. It's a hoax, and those videos you see are probably just crack heads. We aren't doing shit, because there's no need. Now leave me the hell alone."

I sighed and walked away, all dad cares about it getting drunk. So it's up to me like always to figure out what to do. Only this time I have absolutely no clue what to do... A crazy new aggressive virus that's making people go insane and attack others. All I came up with was just keep an eye out and if any of those infected people show up tonight I'll take my dad's gun, car and the twins and get out of here. I'll have to go into the city and get Rose, our youngest sister from our aunt's house, hopefully it won't be crazy there...

"Girls, pack you each a bag. A change of clothes, a blanket, and some books. We're going to get Rose in the morning. Get some sleep because we are leaving bright and early."

The girls obliged and packed bags, then went back to playing and ignoring me. I told them to not go out the door or I will beat the hide off of them, then I went to take a quick nap.

Not long after I fell asleep, I was awoke by the twins shaking me.

"What?" I shouted, panic stricken.

"There are crazy people breaking into the house! Dad left and I think let them in." Aubry was all but hyperventilating. I jumped up, and slipped on my shoes.

"You got your backpacks?" they both hoisted them up to show me. "Alright, we've got to get out of here. Wait a minute... You said dad left?" both of the girls shook their heads yes. That damn coward. I told him we needed to get ready, I cannot believe he left his children here to die...

I was pulled out of my thoughts to the sound of banging on my bedroom door.

"We've got to get to dad's room, he's got guns in there." I put my bag over my shoulder, "When I open this door, I'm going to clear the way and you two run for dads room okay?" they both shook their heads yes, looking too scared to speak.

I stuck my ear to the door and could hear footsteps on the other side of it, along with growling and groaning noises. I turned the doorknob and pushed the door open as hard as I could to knock whatever was on the other side over. I glanced down to see an infected person on the floor, it looked like a woman, long blood matted hair with a chunk taken out of her throat. And to my surprise she smelled rotten...

"GO!" I screamed at the girls.

My sisters took off down the hallway to our dads room, I turned and ran after them just in time to see one of the infected reach out from the living room hallway and snatch Suzan. She screamed as I watched a deranged person take a huge bite out of Suzans neck.
