Shreyas

"Ah, so your Shreyas's fiancée?" Virat was the first to speak up, Tara flashed her pearly whites in a charming smile before nodding, "That would be me."

"How'd you guys meet?" Rohit chipped in, sitting down beside Virat in the glass booth. "We went to the same school, and have known each other for ten years." I responded without a stutter, the two of us had gone over our 'love story' multiple times already. I probably mumble it in my sleep with the number of times Tara made me recite it.

Tara's hand was still in mine, she would smile at me occasionally as she chatted away with my teammates as though she's known them forever. I suddenly understood why she'd been able to build a successful business so quickly, the girl knew her way around words and when she wanted to, she could very likable. "You know, Anushka's really into woman empowerment." Virat held up his fork towards Tara before stabbing a piece of lettuces and munching on it. "She was talking about possibly investing in your company earlier."

"Really?" Tara feigned shock, and I'd wondered if she'd ever considered acting as a side career, she was talented enough to win an Oscar. "Yeah, Anushka had even been recommending your name around."

"Well, please convey my thanks to her because right now, I could use all the support I could get." She sighed dramatically, there was a pregnant pause before Virat spoke once more, "Why don't you meet her?"

"I would love to, she's just so... charismatic!" Tara's eyes were alight with real happiness, I squeezed her hand and this gesture didn't go unnoticed by some of my teammates. Her phone buzzed, 'Pighead Varun' the contact read. I did my best to smother my laughter at the nickname, "I have to get this," Tara excused herself before hurrying away as quickly as she could in those murderous heels.

"She's a keeper, nah?" Rohit Bhai joked. I flashed him a grin, keeping my gaze trained at where she'd disappeared, "Yeah, she is."

"But marriage?"  Coach Dravid spoke up, I saw Rishabh flinch. Coach tended to stay silent and appear out of no where to contribute something important to the conversation. "Shreyas, your at the peak of your career, are you sure you want to get married now?"

"Peak?" I laughed bitterly, poking at the salad on my plate, "Bhai, I'm at the worst point I could be at."

Rohit patted my back, and Virat shrugged, "Things will get better, there's no where to go but up."

"Right, Varun's organized a press meet."I heard Tara's heels before she'd even popped her head into the booth. "Right," I rubbed my hands together and smiled at her. "I guess you and I have been in the headlines for a while."

She returned the smile with one of her own, and sat down beside me once more. "Yeah, I'll have go soon, I have a flight to Delhi and I'm meeting a few investors so I want to be there a few hours early." She leaned in towards me, and pecked my cheek. Her soft lips came in contact with my own as I turned away slightly, I gripped her waist and her brown eyes flared open in surprise.

I win.

Virat chuckled, and Rishabh mimicked gagging. I smiled at her, "Right, want me to walk you out?"

"Nah," Her cheeks were burning red as she still couldn't shake that dazed look off, "I'd better.. go?"

A few hours later, I was sitting in front of flashing camera's at a press conference. Reporters streaming in and buzzing about, "Hi." I started but the mike squealed with feedback.

The the last reporters was ushered in as everyone fell silent as the lull of conversation faded away, "Right, um, let's start with questions?"

"Shreyas, you've been removed from the Delhi Capitals. What do you say to that?" A reporter mustered up his courage and asked me, I grinned.

"Sir, I can't exactly comment on it. I've had a great relationship with the franchise and I will continue to do so, because I've made some great friends there." I beamed at him, the reporter's shoulder sagged downwards when he hadn't gotten the scoop he had.

"Shreyas, we saw a video of you proposing, and with the 'abuse' rumor coming up, are these connected?" A female reporter chose to speak up.

I inhaled, expecting this question. "That video was taken out of context, but I admit I did throw coffee at Sheikh, he's my best friend, and it's something personal between us. He'd told me that I was 'abusing' Priya, when in reality, I've been in a relationship with Tara for four years. We chose to keep it out of press to delay the drama of dating."

The press chuckled at the word 'drama', and nodded, "So yes, I proposed to her. I mean, this period of time really strengthened our relationship and I think we're more than ready to tackle the challenges coming our way as long as we're together."

"Shreyas, can you give us a wedding date?" A man from 'Indian Times' spoke up, and I shrugged, "Tara's handling all of that, all I can think about is cricket apparently," I joked, the man smiled.

"Shreyas, Tara was linked with Ajay for years now, what do you have to say about that?" A reporter spoke up, and I winced inwardly, "Well, yes. But Tara has assured me that Ajay is a really good friend of hers, reporters tend to exaggerate things for more readers."

"If thats all?" I started, the reporters smiled friendly.

alright that went well.

I saw Sheikh battling with my personal guards, and crying out my name for a chance to see me. Well, I jinxed it.
