I quickly found a shelter nearby that had plenty of cats ready to be adopted. I couldn't bare having an empty house anymore and it wasn't like I was making a reckless decision, I was completely ready for a pet. Time started slipping away from me so I decided to try and go back to sleep and in the morning I would find my forever friend. I had an easier time falling asleep, the thought of knowing I wouldn't be so lonely anymore made my heart full. There would be another life in the house.

I woke up at 7 o'clock exactly and started off with my day. I immediately got dressed, skipped breakfast and walked out the front door. I hopped in my car and drove to the nearest pet store to buy supplies for a cat. The bed, litter box, food etc.. Once I had everything I drove over to the shelter. I excitedly got out of my car and went inside the building. I was greeted with two friendly older ladies eager to help me find my companion. They led me to the back where they had the cats. Immediately when I entered a sort of brown cat with black stripes and green eyes approached me. The cat started rubbing up against my legs going back and forth. I bent down to pet the cat and it looked at me in a way a pet never had before and I knew I had to get this cat. I was troll that this cat was a female and that she was found inside the home of an elderly woman who had passed away. When I looked at her the name "Mabel" immediately came to my mind so I knew that's what I had to name her. I filled out plenty of paperwork and then I got to bring her home.

When we got home she was a bit cautious of her surroundings at first but she warmed up very quickly. I had bought a cat tree so I put it up in the living room and she immediately went to check it out. While she was doing that I filled up her bowl and set up her litter box. For the rest of the evening, Mabel and I adjusted to living together. I sat down on the living room couch to watch a movie when she came to sit in my lap. I slowly pet her, earning her trust. We spent the rest of the evening in that same position. When it got late I put her on the bed next to me and she fell right asleep. I took several pictures of her and wanted to send them all to Tori but I refrained. I didn't want her to never come back home, I especially knew she wouldn't if she was aware I had gotten a cat. It was my little secret.
