Second Chance: A Sanvers Story

It was a Tuesday morning and Alex was at the DEO with Kara just as they had finished interrogating a suspect.

"Well that went well, can't believe he cracked so easily." Kara delightfully said.

"Yeh just got to wrap up some tasks and fill out some paperwork and i'm already done for the day." Alex replied.
"Oo maybe I can surprise Eva and pick her up and maybe Maggie will be done soon. Oh Kara do you want to come round if your free?" Alex suggested.

"Yeh course."

It had only been a day since the shower incident and Alex had steered clear of Kara yesterday because of her hickey and she had stuck a plaster on it anyway. But that's when Kara noticed as Alex had forgotten this morning.

"Omg Alex what is that on your neck, I thought you injured yourself?"
At that moment Alex realised.

"Oh what um yeh I did get injured?"

"Alex that doesn't really look like an injury that looks more like a hi-. Alex is that a hickey??"

"Shsh Kara." Alex quickly pushed her into the bathroom.

"ALEX!! I didn't know you and Maggie were going at it that much!"

"Oh hush It was from the shower yesterday morning."

"Shower i- oh Alex, WITH EVA IN THE HOUSE?"

"Oh she doesn't know any of that she was downstairs!"

"Mhm ok ok you and Maggie do your thing." Kara laughed.

Just then Alex's phone rang and it was Eva's school.

"Huh weird it's Eva's school."
Alex picks up the phone and answers.

"Hello"
On the other end seemed to be a rather frantic woman.

"Is this Alexandra Danvers, Evas mum i'm talking to?" She asked.

"Alex and yes yes is something wrong?"

"Well yes there has been an accident involving your daughter."

"What do you mean accident?" Alex's eyes started to fill with tears and Kara's eyes widened when she saw her sister.

"With some kids in the year above, they were talking to her or picking on her i'm not sure about that part but they..they.. started punching her and kicking her and then they pushed her into the road and ..and.. a car went into her." The woman seemed to panic even more now.

"What I oh my god." Alex had tears coming down her eyes and her voice was starting to crack. "Where..where is she now?"

"They have taken her to Randall hospital, once again i'm so sorry."

"I..I" Alex was speechless. "Thank you for um letting me know."
She quickly hung up and turned to Kara.

"What..what is it did she get in trouble?"

"She's at the hospital I..I..I need to go and um i need to call Maggie oh my god.."
Alex sprinted out the bathroom, tears streaming down her face into the parking lot and jumped into the car. She quickly dialled Maggie.
"Ugh pick up pick up." She frantically said to herself as she started driving.

"Hey what's up Alex are you-"
Alex had cut her of.

"Maggie it's Eva I- get to Randall hospital now oh my god."

"Ok I um I'm on my way"

Alex drove as fast as she could in her car while Maggie had jumped into a police car and was speeding down with the sirens on. Alex arrived first and ran in to the front desk.

"I- I excuse me Eva Danvers she's 8 she's only 8 where is she can you please tell me."

"Oh um let me have a look yeh she's just been brought in i-" the lady didn't finish her sentence before Alex was already down the hallway as she had spotted Eva.

A doctor was charging paddles and put them on the little girls chest. He then shouted "Clear" and shocked Alex's daughter.

"I oh my god that's my girl Eva-"

"Get her out of here, mam you don't want to see this. No change charge again to 300. Clear" he shouted.
"She's back she's back let's take her up to the OR"

A nurse guided Alex away from her child just as Maggie arrived.

"Alex what what happened to Eva."

"Some kids in her school beat her up and then pushed her into the road and a car i- i- don't really know oh my god oh my."
At this point tears were coming down Maggie's face and Alex the same while her voice was cracking.

"Ok ok I let's um come over here."
They went into the empty waiting room and sat down next to eachother.

"I don't understand why how is this happened." Immediately Alex just broke down crying into Maggie's arms. Maggie held her girlfriend while trying to be strong for her even though she loved Eva so much. Alex just sobbed she didn't care if anyone saw her crying she just sobbed.

"I what if she dies she's only 8. Maggie I."

"Shsh it's okay it's going to be okay." Maggie said this as she stroked Alex's hair and held her tight. She could feel Alex's tears streaming down onto her arms and on her jeans. "She will be shes so strong she has you as a mother."

"And you Mags. Your her mum aswell."

"Yeh I know." Maggie couldn't help herself she started crying aswell. They both just cried into each others arms Alex was out of tears by the end of it. Just then Kara walked in.

"Alex Maggie I secured things down at the DEO, brainy has taken over, I'm so sorry." She came and sat down on the other side of her sister and rubbed her back.
"She will be okay." Kara wiped a tear from her eye and stayed strong for her sister.
