Chapter 5

I felt confusion and disarray by the stranger words but somewhere deep inside of me I felt happy that he called me that even though I actually don't know why.

I chastised myself for thinking that because if I'm correct I am currently dating his brother and it is wrong for me to think that way.

He looks at me for a while his gaze incredibly intense, so intense that it makes me shiver, I remove my eyes from his and place it on my plate, I avoid his eyes and rather concentrate on the plate of food.

His eyes never left my body even if I wasn't looking at him I felt his eyes on my body,
I suddenly started to feel self-conscious in the dress I wore, it wasn't that expensive rather cheap, I had gotten it when Tayo forced me to go shopping for my birthday and i had never actually worn the dress before.

He stood up from where he knelt making his black t-shirt cling to his body, the t-shirt perfectly outlined his pack and abs, his black jeans somehow matched his shirt and yet didn't make him look like a teen going through his bad boy phase.

His eyes never left my face as he stood up, I felt his gaze on me from the corner of my eye. He looked at me then at Caleb I took the opportunity to glance at him his eyebrows were brought together, his forehead wrinkled and a scowl appeared on his lips.

His gaze becomes heated and his expression was darker than when he first walked in, his eyes focused on me and his stare looked deadly, there was something in the way he stared at me that made me feel like I had just done something wrong.

His gaze became more intense, he seemed pissed, the aura emitting from his was threatening and I find myself feeling uncomfortable and leaned closer to Caleb who was sat beside me.

My body was tightly pressed on his side and our legs touched, Chase moves his gaze from his dad and turned to look at us, upon seeing us, his eyebrows furrowed even more, his nose flares and his fists clenches even tighter than before, before I thought he looked pissed.

Now he looks livid, he lets out a deadly growl, the growl was quite loud and sounded like the growl animals release when they feel threatened in the clinic, I felt a little shocked by the sound he just made, he perfectly it so well that if I hadn't seen him growl I would have thought it was an animal that just growled.

Hearing the growl Caleb pushes himself away from me distracting mefrom Chase's growls and also making me feel embarrassed since I was the one that initiated contact in the first place.

I bow my head low feeling slightly embarrassed and upset, after a moment of silence I started to feel uncomfortable and uneasy.

I raised my head up and the scene I saw was quite strange, Caleb jaw was clenched and he looked extremely upset while Chase had his fists clenched and looked to be extremely angry as he glared at his brother.

Both seemed to be in a daze and looked to be quite intense in it, Caleb stared intensely a painting in the wall while Chase kept clenching and unclenching his fist and both of their parents seemed to be distressed.

I wondered what was wrong, the way they all behaved it was as if they were talking without using words, it was a very strange sight and a stranger thought of mine that I quickly dismissed it.

After a few more minutes they all seemed to snap at of their daze and Kate was the first to break the silence.

"Chase won't you take a seat?" She asked an alarmed expression on her previously calm face.

Chase didn't give her a reply to his question and he just simply took a seat on a chair opposite of mine.

Throughout the dinner there wasn't much conversation after Chase had arrived as everyone had distressed expression on their faced.

Caleb seemed to be extremely upset after Chase arrived and was extremely quiet even more than before, Chase wouldn't stop looking at me and stared at me throughout the dinner which made me extremely skittish.

Kate glared at me and all trace of her previous niceness from before were all gone, she looked at me intensely and a frown was always on her face when I made eye contact with her.

Only Mr Klondike seemed normal he just had the same blank expression on his face exactly like when he arrived, his face gave nothing away.

It was safe to say that this was ranked as the most awkward dinner i had ever been to, not even when my parents were still alive and i was just 12 years old and had gone to my parents friend house for a visit, Mr and Mrs Johnson lived there along with their 18 year old son.

My period had suddenly arrived and i hadn't noticed until my white skirt was drenched in blood, it was when i stood up and got everyone's attention at the table did i finally realized just what had happened, it was extremely embarrassing and i had felt so ashamed.

The worst part was that I just tied a cardigan on my waist and continue the dinner, it was extremely awkward after that incident.

The dinner thankfully eventually finished and Chase was the first to leave since he didn't order anything and both Mrs Klondike and Caleb didn't touch their dessert. As soon as the dinner ended Caleb immediately took me to the car and instantly drove off.
