~~~Jayden's View~~~
"I usually sit with Alice and her friends but Helena wants to meet you," Bella explained. Jayden had been standing awkwardly in the center of the garden. He realized with relief that it was so much more quiet in the garden than in the lunchroom.
"Over hear!" called a loud voice. Jayden turned to see a strawberry blond waving him and Bella over. Bella grabbed his hand and pulled him towards their table. When they sat down, the strawberry blond began to analyze him excitedly."I'm Helena," she chirped.
"I'm-" he began.
"Jayden," everyone said in unison. They all smiled at him, they had been speaking about him before. Jayden smiled back, these people were weird in a funny way. Besides Helena and Bella, there was a small brunette and a sandy-haired boy with strong features. His gray eyes kept glancing warmly at Bella. Bella blushed in return.
"So where are you from?" said the small brunette. "I'm Alice, by the way." She gestured towards the sandy-haired boy, "And he's-"
"Lucas," they boy interrupted, "Nice to meet you." he smiled warmly. It was a different smile than Felix's. It was out of courtesy, not impulse. Jayden was going to reply but felt the blood drain from his face when he heard a familiar voice.
"Isabella." Tory said. "Here." She dropped what looked like a broach on the table. Bella didn't look up. "It's your mom's. My mom forgot to return it." Everyone looked at Tory questioningly. She was usually grumpy but there was something off about her.
"Thanks," replied Bella quietly.
"Oh look who it is," said Tory. She was staring at Jayden, her eyes wild. "The cute little sophomore thinks he can hang out with the juniors huh?" She reached down to pinch his cheeks.
"Come on Tory," Lucas rolled his eyes. "Leave the kid alone" Tory glared at him.
"What are you even doing here?" asked Alice. "This morning the cheerleaders said you could sit with them," Helena furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"You never told me this," she said, confused. Tory rolled her eyes.
"It was a last minute thing. You can come if you want. Ditch these losers," everyone opened their mouths in shock.
"Excuse us," Alice got up defensively.
"Tory. They're our friends too," Helena said.
"Maybe," Tory said, looking at her nails, "But my friends wouldn't sit here with a slut," Everyone's eyes opened in shock, even Jayden's.
"That's enough," growled Lucas. He had gotten up and was gripping the table so hard, his knuckles were white. Tory ran a hand through her chocolate curls and seemed to remember something.
"Oh yeah," she said. "Before I forget, Austin wants to meet you," she said in a bored tone. Almost as if on cue, a tall blond boy with warm brown eyes arrived at their table.
"Sorry Tory, someone was telling me the Chemistry homework and-" his apology stopped short when he caught sight of Jayden. Jayden suddenly felt self conscious about his whole face. He ran a nervous hand through his brown hair and began to play with his fingers.
"I'm Austin," he said warmly. Jayden smiled at him, spreading a grin across Austin's face. "You must be Jayden. Welcome to Jackson High," he looked around and spotted a seat next to Bella. "Is this seat taken?" He asked. Bella shook her head, awestruck at Jaydnen's affect on people.
"Well," everyone turned their heads towards Tory, "As much as I love to see Blondie make friends, I have other things to do. Best of luck to both of you," she nodded towards Jayden and Austin. With a final flip of her hair, she made her way back to the jock table.
