"What class do you have next?" Jayden asked. Bella closed her eyes, trying to remember.

"Art, I think." Jayden chuckled, she was so lost. Jayden glanced down at his own schedule and realized that he had a free. He frowned. What was he going to do at a free where he knew no one?

"I have a free," said Jayden.

"Lucky ass," muttered Bella. It was the second period after lunch and Jayden had just come out of Creative Writing. He had spotted Bella exiting the Italian room.

"What am I gonna do at a free where I don't know anyone," groaned Jayden. He hated being in awkward situations. Walking through the hallways aimlessly seemed pretty awkward to him.

"I think Lucas has a free fifth," she pretended to think profoundly, "I believe fifth period is next," she said. Jayden rolled his eyes.

"Whatever," he muttered. He decided to take this opportunity to ask something that had been nagging him all through his Creative Writing class. "What's the deal with Lucas?" He asked. Bella blushed and looked down at her shoes.

"What are you talking about," she squeaked. Realization spread across Jayden's face. He knew they had a thing but wanted Bella to admit it.

"He just kept looking at you during lunch. With those sexy gray eyes," Jayden wiggled his fingers. Bella's face brightened.

"Really," she asked excitedly. She quickly composed her face and took a deep breath. "Over the summer, we met him when we took a trip to San Francisco. You could say it was kinda a summer fling for me," Jayden gasped dramatically. Bella rolled her eyes.

"Did you fall in love," he teased. She bit her lower lip nervously.

"Almost," she said quietly. Jayden raised his eyebrows in surprise. "But so did Tory," they both flinched at the mention of her name. "We both fell for Lucas, but he only fell for me,"

"She got her heart broken-" Jayden said.

"She had this illusion that they were in love so she said I was stealing him," Bella was crying mildly. Jayden patted her shoulder reassuringly. "And then she cast that spell-" Jayden froze, feeling Bella stiffen next to him.

"What," Jayden asked, confused. Bella glanced around nervously. She began to play with her sweater's sleeve timidly. That's when he noticed a tattoo. It was ruby red and glowed on her pale skin. He reached down and pulled her wrist up to his face and pulled her sleeve down. Bella gasped.

"Can you see it," she whispered hesitantly. Jayden nodded shakily. He could see it. At first, Jayden couldn't make out the design. Then he realized that it was a rose. A flamed rose. The petals glowed and shriveled, it was like viewing it live.

"It's moving," Jayden whispered incredulously. Bella gasped and pulled her sleeve down, yanking her wrist free.

"Listen, Jayden," she said quickly. She began to look around nervously. "If you can see my emblema, you must be one of us," she placed both of her hands on either side of his head. "You can't tell anyone," Jayden stared at her, wide-eyed.

"Bella, are you okay," he asked, nervous. He realized with a shock that her tattoo had disappeared. Bella looked around wildly.

"We have to tell Lucas, he'll know what to do," The late bell rang loud and clear. Jayden jumped at the sound.

"Shouldn't you get to-" Jayden began. Bella shook her head, taking deep breaths.

"You're my main priority right now, I could care less about school," she said. Jayden felt like he should've been flattered by the comment but could only feel worry and confusion for his new friend. They heard chuckling and turned to see Lucas walking down the hallway with Felix. Felix caught sight of Jayden and grinned.
