Taehyun was seated on Huening Kai's sofa, a wallowing, irritable mess. Although it was rare to see him in such a state, Huening Kai had dealt with many distressed friends before, and despite the fact that he had never comforted Taehyun in such a way, he was no stranger to trying new things. Returning to the living room, he held a mug of hot chocolate in either of his hands, placing himself directly next to Taehyun on the couch. Entirely distracted by his phone and endless scrolling on social media, he had failed to notice Huening Kai had come back from his endeavor in the kitchen. It took the younger a dramatic clearing of his throat to get Taehyun to register he was there. Kai then handed one of the mugs of hot chocolate to him, and they each took a sip out of their cups, enjoying the company of each other as they sat in a comfortable silence. Huening then flashed a grin Taehyun's way, almost contagiously, as he couldn't help but softly smile back in return.

"You doing okay, Taehyunnie?" He asked, his sleeves covering his hands as he wrapped them around the mug, it being too hot for him to hold it normally. Not that he would hold it normally anyway.

"I don't know," he exhaled solemnly, staring at the half-melted marshmallows in his cup, "I wouldn't even know how to explain it."

"That's okay," Huening Kai comforted, "you don't have to if you don't want to. But, if it makes you feel better, you can spend the rest of the weekend here! We can do whatever you want to get your mind off of it."

"That wouldn't be so bad," Taehyun admitted, but he still felt as though he needed a solution to his problem, "but first, can I ask you something?"

"Sure thing Taehyunnie," he patted the older's head, but Taehyun was quick to swat the hand away.

"How do you know if you... Like someone?" He questioned, sipping the hot chocolate once again to calm his nerves.

"Hmm," Huening Kai pondered it for a moment before giving a reply, "I guess when you feel a certain way towards a person, you know? Like you think of them all the time, and they give you butterflies, and you—wait, hold on a minute," a devious grin then spread across his face, "oh my god, Taehyunnie do you have a crush!?"

"What? N-no, I—"

"Aww, Taehyun!" Huening Kai then wrapped his arms around the older, tightly squeezing him in the process, "that's so cute! Oh my god, who is it!?"

"Huening Kai, I don't have—" Huening squished Taehyun even tighter in his grip, "Kai, I can't breathe! And y-you're gonna spill my hot chocolate!"

"Okay, okay," he giggled, releasing Taehyun from the suffocating hug, "but seriously, is that what this is all about? Do you need me to hook you up with em' or something?"

"No, it's not like that," he groaned, shaking his head, "I just... I don't know how to fix what I did..."

"What you did?" Huening Kai titled his head, "what do you mean?"

"I really messed everything up, Kai..." Taehyun no longer cared if Huening found out about the secret, his worries had been building up ever since his argument with Beomgyu, and now he had reached his limit.

"Taehyunnie, what happened?" Huening Kai placed his mug down on the coffee table in front of them, so as to effectively hug his melancholic friend.

"I got into a huge argument with Beomgyu, and... Now I think he hates me..." Taehyun felt Huening Kai wipe away the tears from his face, those of which he didn't even notice were there.

"Taehyunnie, he doesn't hate you," Huening Kai rubbed circles on Taehyun's back with his thumbs, "It'll be okay, I promise."

"But, even if he forgives me, I don't know what to do," he nuzzled his head into Huening's shoulder for comfort, "I've never even had a crush before, at least, not like this, I don't wanna hurt him, Kai... A-and he's a guy, what if I'm just going through a phase or something?"

"I know you're worried Tae, but if you really do think you like him, I don't think it's a phase," Huening Kai said, softly playing with Taehyun's hair, "It's okay if you have a crush on him, it's not a bad thing."

"I'm just scared, Huening..." He mumbled, his thoughts in utter disarray.

"I know," Kai gently replied, "and that's okay. Just know I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

The two stayed in that position for a long while, Huening Kai consoling his best friend who had unexpectedly just come out to him. Though, the younger knew the source of Taehyun's fear. even though it was never audibly explained, he was aware of Taehyun's parents and their thoughts on the matter. He was familiar with the way they acted, and in knowing that, he was exceptionally worried for Taehyun. However, Kai would never admit it to his face, for expressing that fear would just distress Taehyun even more, and there was no doubt in Huening's mind that the parent situation was already a huge thought in the latter's head. Although that aspect of it was certainly undesirable, Huening was glad that he could still be a supportive person in Taehyun's life, even despite those who wouldn't be as accepting to him.

Soon, Taehyun had pulled away from the elongated hug, rubbing his doe-like eyes which had developed a shade of red from crying. Huening Kai, being the considerate friend he was asked, "how are you feeling, Tae?"

"A little less shitty thanks to you Kai," he replied in his usual snarky tone, signaling to Huening that his mood had improved, even if it was just a small bit, "but you can't tell anyone, okay?"

"Don't worry, I won't," he smiled, ruffling Taehyun's blonde mane, "now, you wanna play some video games to help you feel better?"

Taehyun returned with a smirk, "it's like you read my mind."
