"Hey hey hey!" Bokuto shouts. "Good morning Kuroo."
"It's way too early for you to be this hyperactive." Kenma mumbles, walking in behind Kuroo and heading to the changing rooms.
Bokuto was bouncing around, already changed and ready to go. He went over to the volleyball cart and picked up a ball, throwing it into the air and running forward, smashed it over the net. He repeats again and again, until volleyballs litter the other side of the court. He wipes the sweat off his forehead with the bottom of his t-shirt and walks towards the other side of the net to start collecting the balls. That was when he spots her. Akaashi, standing in the gym doorway, watching him.
"You have a powerful serve." She calls to him.
"Thanks." He replies. A grin sweeps across Bokuto's face as he picks up two volleyballs.
Akaashi walked across the hall towards him and starts to collect volleyballs as well. As they are finishing, Kuroo and Kenma walked in with Lev and Konoha.
"Bad news Bokuto." Kuroo yelled. "Anahori was grounded by his parents and isn't coming."
Bokuto turns to Akaashi with grin.
"How do you feel about setting for us in a 3 v 3?"
"I err..." Akaashi mumbles.
"Please please please." Bokuto sings, jumping around.
"He won't stop until you say yes." Laughs Kuroo.
"Fine."
Bokuto watches Akaashi walk to the other side of the gym, braiding her hair back behind her head as she goes. She sits down on the floor and starts stretching. Bokuto suddenly feels a sharp pain in the back of his head, and turns to face a laughing Kuroo as the volleyball bounces to the floor. In a flash, he's grabbed the ball and launched it back at Kuroo. The pair run around, pelting each other with balls while the rest stretch and warm up.
Kenma cleared his throat, bringing the duos antics to an end. Kuroo walked over to stand by Kenma and Lev. Bokuto watched Konoha and Akaashi in conversation about the types of sets Konoha likes.
"Ready?" Bokuto calls.
The blond boy nodded and falls back away from the net. Kuroo spun the ball between his fingers, grinning and throwing it into the air, smashed it across the room. Konoha dived and spiked it up above Akaashi's head. She jumped up, brushed her fingers against it and arched it into the air above Bokuto, who leapt forwards and smashed it down the left line of the court, past Lev's outstretched fingers.
"Did you see that Akaashi!" Bokuto shouted.
"Yeah, it was great Bokuto" Akaashi replied with a straight face. She turned away.
After two sets, Kuroo calls "Lets swap setters for a game for fun, I want to see if I can block some of Kenma's sets."
Kenma huffs and lifts the net, Akaashi ducked under and Kenma moves to stand by Bokuto. Bokuto watches Kuroo lean forward and whisper something into Akaashi's ear. Bokuto frowned and turned towards Kenma, who was also watching the pair. He caught Bokuto's glance and shrugged.
At 3-3 it was Kenma's turn to serve, the ball was picked up Kuroo easily, who expertly spiked it high into the air directly above Akaashi. Bokuto watched her head whip around quickly. She found Lev's location. Bokuto ran forward preparing to jump to block Lev's spike. He glanced at Akaashi as she leapt into the air. Eyes locked on Bokuto, he watches in horror as her hand switches from a set to a dump, neatly dropping the ball over the net, and landing on the ground with a smirk. He heard Kuroo roar with laughter at the back of the hall.
Bokuto sulk ended when Akaashi flashed a smile at him. Kuroo stopped laughing and fell back to get ready to serve. Bokuto was still staring at Akaashi when Kuroo threw the ball into the air. Her blue-green eyes were shining. Kuroo jumped into the air. Akaashi really was utterly angelic. Bokuto heard Kenma yell from behind him as the volleyball smashed him in the face and threw him backwards. Bokuto's world went black.
