Bokuto stood frozen in the doorway. He had opened the door to Kuroo talking to an angel. He stared at Akaashi. At the way his skinny jeans and shirt clung to his athletic body. At the way his eyes lit up as he laughed at something Kuroo had said. The way his teeth slightly showed as he smiled, and covered his mouth with his hand, blush creeping over his cheeks. Had Bokuto died? Is this what heaven looked like?
He knew he had developed feelings for Akaashi over the last few months but Akaashi had always gone from hot and cold over and over, had resulted in Bokuto putting up a few walls, telling himself to not get too close. The more Bokuto watched, the more cracks he felt working their way through his defenses.
Akaashi noticed him then and waved him over. Bokuto picked up a beer on his way past the table, and they lapsed into easy conversation. Kenma, Tendo and Ushijima joined them before long, followed by the other four. The group sat around on the floor in a circle, playing drinking games, with light banter and teasing of one another about their relationships and hobbies.
Oikawa arrived, late as ever, dragging a spiky haired boy behind him, that he introduced in his sickly-sweet voice as 'Iwa-chan', while the guy in question made vomiting motions behind Oikawa's back.
"You know what this party needs." Said Kuroo, picking up an empty beer bottle.
"Oh here we go again." Sighs Kenma.
"Just for that Kitten, you can go first." Kuroo laughs and passes him the bottle.
The game continued, with the dares becoming more and more extreme. It would seem that Tendo and Hinata together were a force to be reckoned with when it came to causing mischief. It had become a risk to answer truth however, because Oikawa and Suga were some of the biggest gossips Bokuto had ever met, and wanted dirt.
Oikawa and Suga were currently huddled up together, Oikawa whispering in the others ear, while Suga's eyes were flicking between Bokuto and Akaashi. This can't be good. Bokuto glanced sideways to Akaashi, who was deep in conversation with Daichi and Ushijima, oblivious to anything else happening.
"Oi, are we playing this or not?" Yelled Kuroo in a huff.
The groups broke apart and Kuroo spun the bottle. He looked up at Bokuto with an evil smile on his face as it landed on the owl boy. Bokuto sighed. He knew full well that replying truth would get him having to say something to Akaashi or ask him out. Dare was the safer, and probably less embarrassing option.
"Dare."
Kuroo grinned and locked eyes with Bokuto as he spoke the words.
"I dare you to kiss Akaashi."
Bokuto swallowed. Less embarrassing? Guess not. He thought back to the last time he kissed Akaashi. This can't be any worse right? Bokuto looked to his side, and saw Akaashi already looking at him, a slight smile on his face. God, he was so pretty. His eyes were shining, matching perfectly to his shirt colour. Bokuto placed his hand on the side of Akaashi's face and gently stroked his cheek with his thumb.
"Is it, um, ok-kay if I kiss you?" Bokuto asked.
Akaashi nodded. Bokuto leaned forward and pressed his lips gently against Akaashi's. He felt Akaashi's lips move slightly, and pressed a little harder. Bokuto's brain always felt like it had been in overdrive. There was always something bouncing around inside, he was ablaze with emotional every second of the day, but as their lips collided, everything froze. Ice washed through him, making everything silent. He finally felt like he could breathe easily. He was utterly at peace.
Akaashi drew back, and Bokuto opened his eyes, he watched Akaashi open his, to display the sapphire orbs Bokuto had grown to love so much. Akaashi smiled, and moved his hand to his face, which Bokuto grabbed quickly with his and held it. Akaashi turned crimson but his smile didn't break.
"Awww how cute." Said Suga, behind them.
Bokuto snapped back to reality, launched a pillow at Suga, and moved back to his place next to Akaashi in the circle. He thought for a moment, then turned sideways, and pulled Akaashi on his lap, tucking Akaashi's head under his chin and wrapping an arm around his waist. He felt Akaashi nuzzle up against his neck.
He looked around the circle, Kageyama was sat with Hinata between his legs in front of him. Suga had his head on Daichi's shoulder. Oikawa was using Iwa's thigh as a pillow. Tendo and Ushijima were sitting hand in hand, and Kenma was shamelessly sprawled across Kuroo's lap, with his legs stretched out resting on top of Hinata's. Bokuto smiled. He really did have the best friends.
"So are you two official yet, or do we have to keep ambushing you with drinking games?" Kuroo asked.
Bokuto looked down at Akaashi, noticing him looking at Kuroo.
"Yeah we are." Came Akaashi's voice from below him. Bokuto beamed.
