Kuroo and Kenma had been friends since they were kids, next door neighbours since before they started school and, despite being polar opposites in personality, inseparable. The introduction of Bokuto to the mix was a bit of a shock to the system for Kenma. He had a tendency to just keep his head down playing games when the pair got together, as it usually became unbearably loud to listen to their antics.
On one particular Sunday afternoon, the boisterous duo were seeing who could climb higher into a tree then leap out and roll across the grass. Kenma sighed to himself and wandered back towards his parents house, knowing they would carry on until one got hurt. He opened the backdoor, walking into the small black and white kitchen, removing his shoes as he went.
He tiptoed across the floor trying to not make any noise that would bring his parents into the room and question why he needed the first aid kit. He stretched up and clasped the small green bag from the top of the fridge, knocking a pot slightly on the counter with his stomach as he did.
"Ah Kenma, you're here." His mother called out to him.
"Hi mum." He replied, quickly pulling his hands down with the first aid kit, but not fast enough to hide it from his mother.
"I wanted to talk to you actually, one of my work colleagues is relocating to another branch, and her daughter is transferring to your friends school. Could you ask him to keep an eye out for her? I am not sure what her name is, but the family name is Akaashi."
"Sure, I'll go tell him now." Kenma replied.
"Thanks honey." His mum said, walking out of the room.
Kenma was thankful she didn't comment on the first aid kit in his hands. He guessed she was just used to the antics of the other two. He pulled the kitchen door closed behind him and walked back down the garden path, climbing over the wall to the edge of the woods. He sat back down with his back against a tree and watched Bokuto hanging from a tree by the backs of his lower legs trying to pull Kuroo up by one arm.
Kenma went back to playing the game he was playing, however within 20 minutes his prediction came true. He looked up at the sound of a branch snapping and saw Bokuto fall out the tree, with Kuroo laughing his head off. Kenma picked up the first aid kit and launched it in the direction of Kuroo, who caught it, opened it and started to wipe down the blood on Bokuto's shin.
Once he was no longer bleeding, the pair walked over to Kenma and flopped down next to him. Kenma carried on with his game while the other two lapsed into a casual conversation.
"Oh by the way, my mum asked me to ask you something Bokuto-san." Kenma said.
"What is it?" Bokuto replied.
"She said that someones daughter is transferring to your school. I forgot who she is but she'll be in the 2nd year. The family name is Akaashi. Mum asked if you could look out for her." Kenma said.
"Sure." was all Bokuto said in replied before continuing his conversation with Kuroo about who could jump the highest. Kenma sighed, and wondered if he would need the first aid kit again before the end of the day. The boys however stayed on the grass talking until the sun began to set and they went home.
