Starting the day with his girlfriend's voice was something usual for Haizaki ever since they started dating. Each day became  ten times better for him. However, this time, it wasn't usual as his calls weren't being recieved and his messages were left unseen.

This only made his concern increase with every passing second. Eventually, he got up to freshen and then rushed to her place not caring about leaving his house in sweatpants and T-shirt.

Entering the already unlocked house, the brunette noticed the dimmed lights and silent atmosphere which made his stomach drop for a while.

He stood in front of her room, nervously contemplating whether it was right choice to enter a girl's room without warning. He gently knocked a few times waiting for her to answer only to hear no sound from inside.

With a sigh, he opened the door only to be met by darkness with a quiet sound of someone's clogged breathes. He turned on the lights and went towards the sleeping girl. Her face was flushed red with sweat beads on her forehead. She was having difficulty in  breathing.

Feeling a cold touch on her warm cheeks, she opened her eyes only to see a concerned Haizaki caressing her cheeks.

"Zaki."

"Hey Cherry."

She slowly got up much to his dismay and smiled.

"Fever huh? That's what you get for showering late and having ice-cream afterwards." He soflty flicked her forehead making her pout.

He brought out his phone and called someone only to hear cursing and shouting from the other side. After a while, an irritated 'what?' was heard.

"Oi Nemi.. My girl got a fever. Take notes for me." He immediately hung up not giving Sanemi a chance to speak. He smirked when he glanced at her badly flushed face due to the fever and him calling her 'his girl'. Giving a quick peck on her forehead, he went outside.

She sighed before checking her phone only to be bombarded with notification rings. When the rings died down, she turned it on and scrolled through Haizaki's several messages and missed calls which made her feel guilty for making him worry.

Minutes later, Haizaki entered the room with a cloth and cold water tub. She was checking the messages when her phone was snatched away. She looked up to see him shaking his head and putting the phone in his pocket.

"No phone today. Now lay down. You need to rest." He dipped the cloth in water and squeezed out the water before placing it on her forehead. A satisfied sigh escaped her lips as she closed her eyes.

Haizaki was in the kitchen cooking soup for her. The sound of the shelves opening and shutting filled the air. He was chopping the vegetables when out of a sudden, a pair of arms wrapped around his torso. She rested her head against his back.

"You should be resting, Cherry."

A muffled "I am ok" entered his ear as he poured the soup in the bowl. He turned around and hugged her and she quietly listened to his heartbeat.

He ushered her to stand on his feet which she did and he waddled over to the couch with her being clinged to him like a koala.

After making her comfortable on the couch, he went to her room.

"I feel so disgusting." She muttered with a frown.

She heard footsteps and turned around to see Haizaki coming with a blanket and a hairtie.

"Let's get all that hair away from your face, okay?" He grabbed her hair and tied them in a high ponytail. He wrapped the blanket around her warm figure.

He took the bowl in his hands and sat down on the table in front of her. He blew the soup and carefully brought the spoon near her mouth only for her to turn her head sideways.

"Baby, you need to eat something."

She turned around blushing and was about to say something when he immediately put the spoon in her mouth. With a displeased expression, she gulped down the liquid and glared at him. He shrugged it off innocently.

After feeding her, he made her take the medicines over which she again made a disgusted face for how bitter it was. He chuckled and ruffled her hair.

Haizaki sat down beside her and turned on the TV to make her feel better. Halfway through the show, he felt a stare at him. Her gaze held longing and nervousness. Understanding what she wanted, he opened his arms and gestured her for hug.

"But I'll get you sick—"

"You can return the favor of taking care of me then, but for now, just come here." She crawled towards him and rested her head on his chest. He laid down on the couch and covered both of them with the blanket.

He could feel the warmth of her body.

He planted a kiss on her head and carresed it with one hand while the other was enwrapped around her waist.

She glanced up at him with watery eyes.

"What did I do to deserve you?"

He had a gentle look on his face and wiped away her tears.

"I decide who deserves me and I have decided you do. End of story."

She smiled and snuggled into his chest and he closed his eyes hugging her closer.

His arms were her safe place.
His chest was her pillow.
His heartbeat was her lullaby luring her to sleep.
