The Best Hugger

The day after you read Luna's letter, Madam Pomfrey let you out of the hospital wing. There was just enough time to eat breakfast and head outside like Luna said. You were wearing the amethyst necklace that she had given to you, along with the charm necklace that she gave to you at the beginning of your third year. While walking to go eat you pass Hermione and Ron in the hallway. As soon as Hermione sees you she grabs your arm.

"Y/N! My goodness I was so worried about you. Are you alright?"

"I'm ok, why wouldn't i be?"

"Didn't you pass out? After punching that jerk Draco" she said with a smile

"Bloody hell Y/N you punched Malfoy?"

"He was making fun of Luna. I guess I had enough of people taking advantage of her and well.. I lost control."

"Malfoy isn't even in your year!" Hermione scoffed. "Why was he in your potions class?"

"I heard that he has to help out Snape as a punishment for something. Turns out he was eavesdropping me and Luna's conversation. I can explain more later. I better get going, Luna wants me to meet up with her."

"Oh really?" Hermione smiled.

You were confused to why Hermione reacted that way when you told her where you were going. You ate very quickly and nearly sprinted to go see Luna. You were very eager to see what she wanted to say. When you got to the place Luna asked you to go to, she wasn't there yet.

A couple minutes later you see her run up to you.

"I'm sorry i'm late."

"That's ok Luna I only got here a bit ago. What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?"

She looks at you, making eye contact. You can't stop thinking about how beautiful her eyes are. You blush a little but try to stay calm. You always feel so awkward around her, but not even you could blame yourself for it.

"She's so pretty." You always thought to yourself when around her.

Her long blonde hair flowing in the wind, she looks down at the picnic blanket you both were sat on, waits a bit and looks back up at you.

"You're wearing the necklaces I made for you." She said with a smile.

"Oh, yes. Thank you for the amethyst one. it's very pretty."

She then grabbed your hand with both of hers. You smile a bit and you can tell that you're blushing like crazy.

"Y/N, ever since second year I thought you were a very lovely girl. You are the only person who stands up for me."

You both smile. You can't help but hug her. She hugged you back and rested her head on your shoulder.

"When the 4th years took and hid my shoes last year you got them back for me. You never failed to make me smile, Y/N."

You remember feeling terrible for Luna whenever you saw the older years bullying her. All you want is for Luna to be happy, because of how happy Luna makes you. She's a very cheerful person, so that whenever you saw her upset you wanted to beat someone up. Not really of course, but when you see her like that you sure feel angry.

"Y/N.. will you please.."

You cut her off by kissing her on the cheek softly.

"Why did I do that..? what is wrong with me? what if she was asking me a simple question and then I made her uncomfortable?" Your thoughts were circling around.

"..go out with me?" Luna finishes her sentence with a look of relief on her face.

You nodded with a shocked yet happy smile across your face, cheeks as red as her radish earrings.

The hug that she gave you after that felt like the greatest thing that you had ever felt before. Her hugs had always been amazing, but this one was different. You never thought Luna had felt the same way about you. Your long dark colored hair blowed in the soft wind.

The feeling of Luna's arms wrapped around you felt like a squeeze of love.

Luna backs out of the hug and cups your face. She gives you a light kiss on the forehead.

That kiss made you feel like the luckiest person alive.

"I'll see you at breakfast tomorrow."

"She's so wonderful." You think to yourself as you watch her skip away.

You sit on the picnic blanket. Smiling at the dark sky filled with stars, as your head fills with thoughts. You look at the amethyst necklace with Luna's initials carved onto it. Holding the crystal in your hand, you tell yourself how lucky you are. How lucky you are to be going out with Luna Lovegood.
