Akutagawa didn't necessary hate Dazai. But he did sometimes. Specifically when he and Atsushi were trying to have time to themselves, and he found his way into screwing it up. This time was different though. Dazai and Chuuya had been together for years now, and as soon as they heard that Shin Soukoku had become a thing, they wanted to take them out on a double date so badly, and the idea had been hanging around for a long time until Dazai finally insisted on it. Akutagawa wasn't sure though, Dazai was only desperate to see them because he wanted to make something go wrong, that's just the way he is.

Atsushi was wearing an adorable tan sweater over a white button up, which was his regular attire, and Akutagawa couldn't love it more. He loved Atsushi in anything, he pulled off whatever he tried. There was nothing that could be done about how cute he was. Akutagawa decided to match up with his style, and wore the same white button up, but with a black sweater, it matched his hair better. Atsushi got the hint that he was trying to match with him and got so excited. They were meeting up with Double Black at a nice restaurant in the city. It was the same place Atsushi had taken Kyouka a few times. She loved the food there, as expensive as it was, and everyone knew that Atsushi was broke, so he was lucky that Dazai insisted on treating them.

Akutagawa and Atsushi arrived first, waiting at the table for the other two to arrive. Akutagawa had been leaning on Atsushi the entire time, nervous of what was to come. He just wanted this to go smoothly, more than anything. He loved Atsushi so much, and as long as he was happy, he was happy too. Atsushi sensed his tension and rubbed his back slowly. "Don't get all tensed up. We'll be fine. I won't let him be a dick. Plus, Chuuya's here too, he always manages to talk some sense into him. I think his brain is replaced with bandages sometimes."

Akutagawa laughed and managed to ease up. Atsushi wasn't stupid, he knew when Dazai was trying to be a dick. "I promise. I won't let anything bad happen. I love you." he held the other's hand from under the table, earning bit of blush from him. The two had a tendency to stare at each other for large amounts of time, just because the sight of each other was so comforting. Atsushi put his arms around Akutagawa and kissed him passionately. It was then that Akutagawa wished it was just the two of them. He didn't want to break away from Atsushi, he loved him so much and just wanted to be with him as long as he was happy. Their moment was ruined however when a certain man wearing a tan coat and an unnecessary amount of bandages tapped him on the shoulder with a fake innocent smile.

"Hello there you two~ Sorry for interrupting." he teased, taking a spot on the other side of the table. Chuuya joined him from behind, only to be pulled closely by his partner. Atsushi and Akutagawa slid away from each other awkwardly, hoping they hadn't seen too much, keeping their hands interlocked. Chuuya angrily pushed a clinging Dazai off of him. "Ay, don't be weird mackerel. Get your dirty hands off me." Yep. Your standard Soukoku. They hate each other yet can't live without each other. That's how they always were, but Akutagawa figured they were probably really different when it was just the two of them. Dazai was really romantic towards his partner, but only when he wanted to be.

"But I wanna hold my chibi. Is that so wrong?" he leaned onto Chuuya's shoulder, just getting him more worked up. Atsushi laughed nervously. "Hey guys. How... are you two doing? It's been a while since I've seen you, Chuuya."

Chuuya's frustration disappeared and he looked interested in what Atsushi had to say. "I'm alright. It's just this motherfucker. He's been real touchy lately, especially in public. I can't get a break. But that's not really important, how are you two?"

"We're pretty good! It's been a pretty low-key week since Ryuu gets to work from home, so I'm glad we finally got to get out. Then again, I do like being at home. It's... comforting." Atsushi replied. Akutagawa started blushing again. He knew that Atsushi loved him, but every time he mentioned how much he wanted to spend time together, he got all warm inside, because he felt the exact same way.

"I'm glad I've been able to be home too. We found a stray cat recently and took it in." he added. Dazai's eyes sparkled "A kitty! Why didn't you tell me about this, Atsushi?" They did work together almost every day, and he just never mentioned it.

They were interrupted by a waitress asking them for orders, which they put in, and then went back to their conversation. Akutagawa noticed Atsushi was holding his hand a little tighter now, he just didn't know why.

"Ah, shit. I left my wallet in the car, I'll be right back." Chuuya sighed as he got back up from the table and left for the front door.

Dazai watched him go, smug smile remaining. "Perfect timing, Chuu."

Akutagawa and Atsushi were confused why he was happy about this, until he leaned in towards them. "Okay. I haven't told anybody about this yet, but about a week from now I'm going to propose to Chuuya." he whispered.

They both gasped quietly. Dazai and Chuuya had been together for so many years, it's not like they didn't see this coming, but it was obviously exciting.

"That's amazing, Dazai! I'm so happy for you two!" Atsushi couldn't help the grin spread out on his face. Akutagawa was about this same. He was just happy that they were happy. While Dazai could be his least favorite person on the planet sometimes, he deserved to be happy with Chuuya. He loved him so much, and while they didn't act like it, their relationship had become healthy overtime. He was proud of them.

"I'm a little nervous to be honest, but I think it's going to go well. I love him with every bit of me, and want to make him happy. Hopefully marriage will bring us closer together." he looked so passionate about what he was saying when a minute ago all he wanted to do was annoy Chuuya to death.

Akutagawa had that same passion for the jinko sitting next to him. He wanted to marry him someday too.

"So... if he says yes, you both are invited to the wedding of course." all of Akutagawa's worries from before we're fading. Dazai was being nice for once because he was paying attention to the one thing he loved more than anything.

"We'll be there. Thank you for telling us, Dazai." Akutagawa finished off before Chuuya came running back into the place. "It started raining. Kinda sucks, but I don't think it's that bad."

Thunder rattled from outside, making a few people jump. It was going to be a pain to get out of, none of them brought umbrellas, and it was a bit of a walk to get from the parking lot to the stairs of their apartment. Lighting started up as well, but it wasn't as noticeable as the pouring rain tapping at the windows.

"Ah, shit. That looks bad." Chuuya remarked. Neither Atsushi or Akutagawa liked thunderstorms, they brought back bad memories, and now the entire atmosphere was thrown off.

"You okay?" Dazai asked the both of them, noticing how unsettled they looked. Atsushi and Akutagawa exchanged glances. They just focused on each other's eyes for a moment, getting lost in them again. Atsushi smiled a little bit, getting distracted from the weather. "Yeah. I think so."

...

Eventually, they paid the check and started to leave, but the rain was still coming down. Chuuya took his hat off once they were outside and hid it under his coat. "What are you doing, chibi?" Dazai asked him.

"I can't have this thing getting wet, it's expensive." he snarled. Without a word, Dazai took off his coat and put it over the top of Chuuya's head. "There. You're safe now."

"Why you-"

Atsushi stuck close to Akutagawa once they were both getting poured on. It was going to be a cold night for sure. A hot shower sounded amazing right now, they just needed to wait for the two morons to stop bickering like an old married couple. Maybe they would turn out to be just that within a week or so. Now that they were on the topic of marriage, Akutagawa couldn't stop thinking about it. He didn't want to be with anyone else but Atsushi, and knew he would have to propose at some point. That was all he wanted. To make Atsushi his.

"Well, thanks for sticking around guys! See ya at work Atsushi! Bye Akutagawa!" Dazai waved them off, keeping his arm around Chuuya as they made a run for their car.

Atsushi watched them leave and looked up at his boyfriend. From the looks of it, he had been thinking about what Dazai said too.

"You better marry me."

Akutagawa laughed at how straight forward he was. He took the weretiger's hand and they started walking towards the car, not caring about the rain anymore.

"I do."
