When we got home the girls shook me awake and brought me inside. As I had woken up by the time we got inside we all said hello to Gemmys mom and sat down at the counter with all of the bags.
When I looked up I noticed that Gemmys mom was staring at me. I asked her why she was staring at me. She looked at me and said "well I was thinking about it and I think it would be a little awkward if you only called me Mrs. McCoy so if you want, you can call me mom...and I'm sure Gemmy would love to have someone to call an official sister."
I looked back and forth between her and Gemmy...both of them wanted to hear my answer...I listed off the pros and cons in my head and decided.
"Ok...Thanks Mom" I replied. Which gave a gleam to her and Gemmys eyes. "So we still need to order the furniture" my mom said. "I wasn't really expecting this to happen obviously so you can either sleep on the couch for a few weeks or you can sleep with your sister in her bed until your mattress comes in."
I looked over at Gemmy and saw that she got excited when mom brought up sharing her room with her new sister so I said "I don't mind sharing with my big sister!"
To that mom nodded and said "there are just a few more things and then you girls can go do stuff. The first thing is, what is your new name?" I thought for a second remembering that people can't just call me Jack and treat me like a girl.
"I-I don't know..." I said starting to break down feeling bad for not being able to answer. The girls and mom started cooing at me and trying to calm me down telling me that it was alright. They started to give suggestions for names. They listed them off "Carly, Ashley, Carla, Danielle, Lilly, Georgia."
After that I raised my head and asked "what was that last one?" Mom looked and asked "Georgia?" "No the one before that" "Lilly?" Gemmy asked. I looked at her and said "that's it...but not spelt that way...like...L...I...L...I..."
They all looked at me for a second and then told me that it sounded pretty. I was happy with it too. It made me happy.
Mom looked at me then and said "hey Gemmy and Destiny I need to talk to Lili for a second could you go into the girls room?" To which they started to the room gossiping about what we may need to talk about.
"What did you need to talk to me alone about?" I asked confused. "I need to ask you something about something that those girls don't know about and have no interest about...and how do I word this...so...Lili...you have different parts than girls...I wanted to know...do you want to get surgery to be the same as your sister?"
I stared at her confused but answered the question with "ummm I'm not quite sure what you mean but if there is something I can do to be more like other girls I would like to do it." My mom looked at me and said "Ok I will note that down but first before we can even officially change your name we need to get your birth mother to sign the adoption forms."
