Naïve. When all of us were children, we were young, innocent, and naïve. In a way, it was a good thing. It was what made childhood happy and, for the most part, worry-free. All of this ends, progressively, as we grow up. We learn new things; of the dangers and the problems in the world. Also, we start learning that not every person we come across is always a good person. Growing up we may lose some of our naïve nature, but we definitely do not lose it all. We fall for façades and games that can leave us hurt in the end. You convince yourself that this aura that they are giving off is not who they truly are. This giving that person an opportunity to weave their way in, just to leave you hurt in the end. Trusting someone, when all the signs and the evidence tell you not to, would definitely one of those times.

This is exactly what had happened with me. I was strung along and played by none other than the school’s biggest player. I have seen a countless amount of girls get strung along by him only to be left heartbroken and crying. Therefore, I somewhat saw this coming, but at the same time I was hoping that maybe there was more to him then a player and a bad boy. I guess I was wrong.

Waking up to the annoying beeping of my alarm clock, I sat up and turned it off. I got up and jumped in the warm shower. I just stood there for a few minutes letting the warm water flow over my head and my face, feeling as if I was standing under a waterfall. Warm showers have always relaxed me and helped me clear my head or get my thoughts together.

After I finished my business in the shower, I got out and wrapped a towel around myself and tucked in one end of the towel so that it was as if it was a strapless dress. I took another towel, flipped my hair over, and wrapped the towel around my hair. Standing up straight again, I went to my closet and searched for an outfit. After a minute of searching, I settled on a coral blouse and a pair of light wash, blue jeans. I laid my outfit on my bed then headed back into the bathroom. I took my hair out of the towel and put it up in a messy bun before washing my face and brushing my teeth. When I was done with that, I took my hair down and brushed all the tangles out of it. Once they were all gone, I blow-dried my hair letting it go into its natural waves. After it was dry, I used my curler to add a bit more curl to my waves. Finishing my hair, I put on make-up, making sure I did not go overboard. I put on foundation, neutral eye shadow, black, winged eyeliner, and a light amount of clear lip-gloss.

I went back into my bedroom and put on the outfit I had chosen. Once I was dressed, I put on my chestnut, knee-high boots. After I zipped them up, I checked my nails that I had painted last night. I nodded satisfied when I saw none had chipped. I went over to my dresser and picked out three necklaces and slid them over my head. I went over to my full-length mirror and looked over my outfit one last time before I grabbed my blue and white backpack with tan leather straps and headed downstairs.

“Hey, Hunt. You still giving me a ride to school?” I asked, grabbing a protein bar and my fruit smoothie. “Yup,” he replied, popping the ‘p’ as he grabbed his keys. “You all ready to go?” I nodded, heading out the back door to Hunter’s car and jumping in the passenger seat. Oh, and you may be wondering where Cole and Chrissy are. Cole takes the bus and our neighbors, who are family friends of ours, take Chrissy to school now every morning so that Hunter and I are never late to school.

Pulling up to my school, I turn to Hunter and thank him before getting out of the car. As always, the girls are waiting for me by Delia’s car just as they do every morning that Hunter drives me. I waved to them and they waved back when they saw me and hurried over.

When they made it over to me, I was greeted by five cheery ‘Good morning’s and a small, caramel mocha. I thanked Paige as she handed me my drink. I took a sip and felt the coffee warm me up almost instantly.
