Studying. "Okay. So, turn right here," I said, directing him to my house. "Andddd... This one. This is my house." He turned and pulled into the driveway of our white, four-story house with a gray roof.
I have to admit that it is overly large for a family of six, but my parents are almost never home. To make up for it, they bought a mansion for us to live in and provide us with almost anything we as for. I know that your probably thinking wow, she's just a spoiled rotten, little princess. And while my parents do try to spoil us, my siblings and I prefer not to get everything through "mommy and daddy's money". So, we try earning our money through chores, babysitting, mowing people's lawns, and, for those of us who can, working a real job.
"Wow." That's all Trenton said as he stared up at the huge house that sat in front of him. "Well, are you coming in?" He nodded and got out of the driver's seat, locked his car, and followed me to the door. I opened the door without using my keys knowing someone had to already be home.
"I'm home!" I yelled into the house as I close the door after Trenton comes in. "Yaaay! Bella!!" I squatted down and opened my arms, catching the little bundle of joy that came running for me. I stood up holding her on my hip while giving her a hug. "How's my favorite little girl doing?" She giggled replying with, "Great! I made new friends!" I smiled at her. "That's great, jitterbug! You'll have to tell me all about them at dinner." "Aww! But I wanna tell you right now." "Sweetie, I have to go do homework right now, but I promise you can tell me all about your day at dinner. Okay?" "Okay." At this point, she looked over my shoulder and saw Trenton. "Who is he?" she asks, pointing her finger at him. "Oh, jitterbug, this is Trenton. I'm going to be studying with him." She nodded and looked at him, "Nice to meet you, Trenton." "Nice to meet you too." With that I placed her back on the floor. As soon as her feet were down, she ran off. Probably going to look for Cole.
I turned around to face Trenton. He looked like he had seen a ghost. "You okay there, Scott?" He quickly recovered and returned to his typical look; absolutely no emotion was evident in his eyes again. "I'm going to get a drink. Do you want some water or soda or something?" "Nah, I'm good." I nodded and went into the kitchen with him trailing behind me. I pulled a water bottle out of the fridge and took a sip from it.
"So, she seemed nice," He said, obviously having something on his mind that actually wanted to say. "Yeah, that's Christina, but if you want to stay on her good side I suggest you call her Chrissy," I said, smiling. I took a sip of water and mid-sip I heard, "I didn't realize you had a daughter." As soon as I heard this, I did a big spit take and started choking a bit. When I could finally talk without coughing, I managed to reply to his statement. "Chrissy isn't my daughter. She's my little sister." A look of realization and slight embarrassment came over his face. "Oh, I see." I laughed and shrugged it off. "I can see why you would have thought that though. And strangers have stopped me before when I go out with her and told me I have "the cutest daughter ever". So, it's not the first time that mistake has been made."
"How old is she?" he asked. "2 ½. Today was her first day of preschool," I said, smiling. All of the sudden, I heard crying and yelling from upstairs. "You totally cheated!" "I did not!" "You did too!"
"Guys! Cut it out!" I yelled to the ruckus upstairs before turning to Trenton. "Just one moment."
With that I ran upstairs, only to find Chrissy crying and Cole fighting with his friend, Luke. I bent down to pick up Chrissy and hold her on my hip as I gently rocked her to try and calm her down. Then, turning to the boys I said, "Cole! Luke! Stop, both of you. What's the problem?" As soon as I asked that, they both started angrily talking over each other while telling me their sides to what happened. "Okay! Stop! I've heard enough." With that, I went over to Cole's gaming systems and pulled all the connection plugs. "No more video games. Go outside and swim or play football or something. Okay?" I got two-mumbled okay's. I turned around and, while not watching where I was going, managed to bump into something, or someone.
