Florida Adventures (Pt. 2). [Annabella] "WAKE UP!" I instantly shot open my eyes to see Chrissy jumping on the foot of the bed. "Come onnn! Time to get up!" I chuckled, giving up on trying to get any more sleep, and sat up to see a very energetic and excited Chrissy. I looked over to see Trenton still asleep, but starting to stir.
"Come on, Jitterbug. Let's go get breakfast," I whispered as I quietly got up, slid on my slippers, and motioned for Chrissy to follow me to the door. She nodded and threw on her slippers before following me. When we were out of the room, she turned to me with a puzzled look. "Why didn't Trenton come?" "Because, Jitterbug, he drove a long way last night to help bring us to the surprise. We should let him get some sleep." She nodded before looking excited, again, about the idea she just came up with. "Can we bring him breakfast?" "Sure, Jitterbug. I'm sure he'd like that." Looking very proud of herself for thinking of that idea, she started skipping happily toward the dining area.
The dining room was simple but nice. It had a breakfast buffet lined up across the counters with simple wooden tables and chairs placed throughout the room. As soon as we walked in, Chrissy spotted Hunter and Cole and ran over to join them. As I walked up, Hunter gave me a questioning look obviously about the whereabouts of Trenton. "He's still sleeping. We figured we'd let him sleep and Chrissy wants to bring him some breakfast." That was good enough for Hunter as he nodded before taking Chrissy's hand to help her get breakfast.
Going up to the buffet behind them, my mouth instantly started watering and my stomach growled revealing how hungry I really was. I grabbed a plate before piling on fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon, cheesy grits, two pancakes, and a blueberry muffin before grabbing a glass of orange juice. As soon as I sat down, I couldn't help digging in. Everything was amazing. The bacon was cooked perfectly where it wasn't raw but also wasn't overcooked and the muffin was still warm and moist like it was fresh out of the oven.
Breakfast continued on, with small talk here and there aside from Chrissy constantly asking where we were going. None of us had told her where our destination was this year other than that we were going to Florida. After planning for the last year, we wanted to surprise her and create great childhood memories for her to be able to look back on. Since our parents are barely around, Hunter and I usually feel a lot of the responsibility to try and fill those roles for her as best as we can. Feeling a sadness while thinking about this, I look at Chrissy, smiling brightly, before I shake off these thoughts and return her smile.
"How about we go get some breakfast for Trenton to take to him?" I ask her. At this, she instantly jumps up and comes around to me to grab my hand before dragging me to the breakfast buffet. Luckily, I had seen that they had to-go boxes for people who wanted to eat in their rooms. Approaching the buffet, I grabbed a box before going down the line with Chrissy telling me everything she thought he would like. Once the box was filled with as much food as possible, Chrissy decided that it was good. After I closed the lid, she grabbed my hand again and started dragging me back to the room. I turned to Hunter and Cole as we passed them and they just chuckled at us. Meanies.

Once we got to the room, Chrissy begged to be the one to open the door. I handed her the key and, after a few attempts of her scanning and being impatient and trying to open the door too soon, she finally got the door open. I was pretty surprised when we walked in to see a half-naked Trenton with a towel around his waist. While Chrissy didn't even seem to notice or care, I on the other hand looked like a deer in headlights. While I saw him shirtless last night, I was now able to see much more details. His chest and arms were toned and muscular but weren't overdone. He had well-defined abs and the towel was positioned so that I could see the "V" shape of his torso peaking above it.
"Yeah! I got you lots of food!" I was snapped out of my thoughts as I heard Chrissy telling Trenton about the breakfast she got him. She came up to me and I handed her the box, before finally bringing myself to meet Trenton's eyes. His face wore a small smirk that told me I had been caught red-handed. Turning my head, I felt the warmth from blushing fill my cheeks as I cursed myself for getting caught.

The rest of the morning went by fairly uneventfully. After Trenton had eaten his breakfast he told Chrissy it was all his favorite breakfast foods and thanked her, which made her beam with joy. We all started getting ready for the day before packing up the few items we had brought in and heading to meet up with Hunter and Cole in the lobby. Once we were checked out, we loaded up the cars with our bags, with Chrissy insisting the entire time that she had to ride in Trenton's car. Hunter finally gave in, my guess is so she wouldn't be complaining the next four hours in his car, and I buckled Chrissy in Trenton's car before we all loaded up into the two cars. Jumping into the car, I turned to Trenton. "Are you sure you don't want me to drive at least two of the four hours?" I asked, feeling bad that was going to drive a total of 13 hours in two days. He turned to me, flashing a small smile, "I'll be okay Tinker Bell." With that, I just nodded in response as I got comfortable for the long drive ahead.
For the first hour or so of the drive, Chrissy kept trying to get us to tell her and guessing where we were going. After that, I pulled up a movie on my iPad to keep her entertained for a while. She excitedly took it once she saw that I pulled up her favorite movie, Frozen, and put on her headphone. After that, Trenton and I just saw in silence aside from the noise from the other cars. After about thirty minutes of silence, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Sooo...," I started before realizing I didn't know what to talk about. "So?" Trenton questioned while turning briefly to me with one of his eyebrows raised. "I don't know. I was trying to think of something to talk about, but we don't really know that much about each other," I replied honestly, shrugging. He nodded slowly while looking like he was deep in thought.
"Well, what do you want to know?" He asked, nonchalant. I thought for a minute and realized that I only knew a little bit about his family from what he had shared at dinner when Hunter was interrogating him. "Well, ...I told you about my family. What's yours like?" There was a moment of silence before he sighed and finally started talking.
"Well, you know I have a brother, Brenden. He's a sophomore like you. I don't have any other siblings. But I live with mom and brother," he finished, shrugging. Before I could stop the words, I let the question slip out. "What about your dad?" I instantly started kicking myself for asking. Me and my big mouth. I noticed it was still silent as I glanced over to see Trenton gripping the wheel so hard that his knuckles were turning white though his expression was emotionless.
"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. It's none of my business," I replied softly, instantly remembering his reputation at school. While I don't necessarily believe all the rumors, I do know that he can have a temper. Everyone at school knows that and also knows not to mess with him because of it. After that, the car ride was quiet again.
"I'm sorry." I turned to him confused why he'd be apologizing. I was the one who was being nosey. "My dad isn't a good guy. He left us about five years ago and I just don't like to talk about him." I nodded in response, "I'm sorry for pushing you, I get it. And I know we're not very close, but I'm always here to lend an ear." He gave me a small smile before turning his attention back to the road. I glanced over at the clock to figure out how much time we had left. 12:35 PM. I was surprised at how much time had flown by. We wanted to get an early start on our drive so we checked out and left around 9 AM this morning. I also started to get more excited about reaching our destination.
Trenton chuckled at my excitement as I was having a hard time sitting still anymore. "Someone is excited." I let out a little scoff and rolled my eyes. "That's the understatement of the century," I joke. He then starts thinking before opening his mouth to ask whatever is on his mind. "Thinking about it, where are we going?" I realized, while we had invited him, no one had told him exactly where we were going.
"The happiest place on earth."
