"Congratulations," I greeted him, forcing myself to look okay. With a wide smile, his heavenly blue eyes lingered on his bride and said, "I am the happiest man on Earth right now."

Following his line of sight, I looked over at my beautiful best friend in her wedding dress. "Take care of her," I whisper.

"I will," he promised as he took her hand, moulding it to his as if to say he'd never let go.

My first and only love. Yet here he was, marrying someone else.

Little did he know, he was taking two hearts tonight. The only difference?

One was happy, reciprocated.
Mine was crushed, shattered.

I should be happy. I know I should. My best friend was marrying the man I've loved more than anyone. My two favourite people were stood in front of God, vowing to never hurt each other.

"I do," they each muttered before sealing their promises. And, as their lips locked together I realised he was my moon.

He would be the one to lighten my darkest days. At night, as I stared out of my window, I would wonder what it would feel like to be by his side. Yet, I would learn to live with never knowing. I had to.
