Legolas' POV

It had been almost 24 hours searching for (Y/N), and they have found nothing.  Legolas tracked her to her last clue she was able to leave and now had no idea where her captors could have taken her.  Legolas sat on a stump holding his head in his hands trying to come up with some rescue idea that could save her.

Legolas had a soldier ride swiftly back to Mirkwood to inform his father of the events and to send a letter to Rivendell, asking them to postpone the meeting for a few days.  The rider should have made it to Mirkwood by now, but Legolas had nothing to do but wait for their return.

Noben made his way to Legolas, he tried not to show it but he was worried about Legolas, he had never seen him this upset.  In the back of his mind Noben suspected that (Y/N) had already been killed, he feared how Legolas would react to this.

He knelt down in front of Legolas, waiting for him to look up.  When he did not, Noben began talking anyway.  "A raven arrived a few minutes ago carrying a message," he said handing the parchment out to the prince, "I have not read it yet."

Without looking up, Legolas took the parchment and unraveled it, revealing his father's distinct writing.

My son,

Your soldier told me everything, I thought that sending you a letter by raven would reach you quicker, but rest assured your soldier is headed back to your company.  I am so very sorry to hear about what happened to (Y/N), I truly am.  I have written to Lord Elrond in Rivendell and he has relented to postponing the meeting for only a few days, but it cannot wait long.

As hard as I imagine this is for you, you must leave (Y/N) behind if you are to make it in time.  We must have a say in this meeting, the fate of the world will be decided and Mirkwood must have a representative.  Perhaps when all this is done, we can arrange a search party for (Y/N).

As your father, my heart is with you.  But as your King, I must order you to continue on without delay.  I will see you soon.

Legolas finished reading the letter and let a small tear fall down his cheek before handing it back to Noben.  "Your new orders come from the King," he said still looking at the ground, "read it."

Noben finished reading the letter and looked back at Legolas.  "I am truly sorry, my friend.  I will gather the others and get ready to move on."

As Noben stood up Legolas stopped him.  "You will be leading this mission now, friend, I will stay and continue looking for her."

Noben opened his mouth in confusion, "but my lord-"

Legolas cut him off, "the King said he must be represented, I trust you to lead the others and to speak on behalf of the king."  Noben nodded in respect and went to gather the others.  Legolas pulled out (Y/N)'s arrow and gently ran his fingers along the fletching.  When he finally looked up, Noben and the company stood around him.

"You may leave," Legolas stated, "Noben is in charge in my absence."

"With all due respect, my lord," Noben said stepping forward, "we are all prepared to disobey orders from the king to find (Y/N), she is our princess too."

Calen then stepped forward, "and we will not leave her behind."

Legolas stood up from the stump he hadn't left in several hours and smiled at the men around him.  "All of you are good and loyal friends, although I should tell you to keep moving, I obviously cannot stop you from following me."

The men around him nodded.  By sundown they had devised a plan.  Two men would stay with their things and slowly move through the forest at a straight line, being a moving base camp for the others.  Two other groups would run search patterns in either direction looking for clues of other camps or of (Y/N) directly.  The searches would go on through the day and night until she was found, switching out people as they needed rest.

Legolas led a group and refused to rest until he had found his love.  He did not know it yet, but he was getting closer and closer to finding her, but she may not be alive when he does.
