"... god, I need a drink."

In the early hours of the morning, Yūji Itadori frantically gasped for air and sat up in his bed.

He had just awoken from the throes of an intense and eerily realistic nightmare; but what bothered him the most was the fact that he had just watched the horrific massacre of his loved ones, and he had been the one responsible. As the vessel of Ryōmen Sukuna— the most feared Cursed Spirit to have ever existed— Yūji was well aware that he had to keep his guard up at all times, even in his slumber. If he wasn't careful, or slipped up for even a second, his worst nightmares could easily become a bloody reality.

Stretching his arms, Yūji let out a loud yawn as he glanced towards his window. Through the narrow slit of space that separated his curtains, a weak stream of moonlight slowly trickled into his bedroom. Then, just briefly-

"Huh?"

It was fleeting, but Yūji was absolutely certain that for a split second, a dark shadow had passed his window.

"I must still be dreaming," chuckled Itadori to himself, throwing off his blankets and rising to his feet. "I need a drink."

As quietly as possible, so as not to awaken his fellow students, Yūji slipped out of his bedroom and headed down towards the corridor in the direction of the dormitory's communal kitchen. His eyes adjusted to the dark as he felt his way towards the refrigerator, and he let out a loud sigh upon opening the door. He was illuminated with light from the fridge as he bent down to grab a bottle of water from the bottom shelf, as was the living area behind him.

Yūji continued to unscrew the cap of his bottle and gulp down as much water as he could, but all the while, his still sleepy and delayed mind was still struggling to keep up with his movements.

Once he had quenched his thirst, Yūji sighed once more and shut the fridge, intent on finishing the rest of his water in his room.

"... huh?" Automatically, Yūji gingerly reached out and opened the fridge once more. This time, he stepped away from it and allowed the light to spread out behind him- and then he saw something that convinced him that he was still asleep.

There, sitting atop the rarely used dining table, were two large lumps that hadn't been there when he had bade his friends goodnight.

"Surely I'm still dreaming," guffawed Yūji, rubbing his eyes and closing the fridge. He opened it once more, but the scene remained the same. The two large lumps on the table were still there, and he was still confused. "Did someone leave their bags there?"

Now fully awakened by the surprising sight, Yūji made his way to the main light switch and turned it on. He winced as the entire room was bathed in blinding light, and closed his eyes to let them acclimatise to the sudden change in brightness.

Shaking his head, Yūji headed towards the table to examine the two lumps, and was cautious in his approach. Upon getting closer, he realised that one of the lumps was a large duffel bag that was almost bursting at the seams. And the second...

"What the hell?" After walking around the table, Yūji was confronted with the sight of an oddly shaped package that had been covered in a thin, black elastic sheet. His eyes darted from the duffel bag to the weird package, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't comprehend what the second shape was.

"It kind of looks like a...? Car seat?" Yūji snorted and waved away his guess. "No way. Is this you trying to play mind games on me, huh?"

The young student knocked himself on the head as he pinned the blame for his hallucinations on Sukuna, who roughly replied, This is not my doing, you brat.

As curious as he was, Yūji was petrified at the thought of opening either of the items on the table, especially if they didn't belong to any of the other students.

"M-Maybe it's Fushiguro's stuff... or Kugisaki's..."

Within seconds, Yūji had sprinted to the room of his neighbour and fervently began knocking on the door, slowly feeling himself becoming more and more alert as he realised just how dangerous the belongings in the living area could be.

"Fushiguro! Hey, wake up!"

The door to Megumi Fushiguro's bedroom creaked open, revealing the scowling male standing behind it.

"What do you want?! It's three in the morning!"

"Um, you wouldn't happen to have left some stuff on the table last night, did you?"

"... no. Why?"

"Did you see anything on the table before you went to bed?"

"... not that I can recall. Inumaki-senpai and Panda-senpai were the last ones in the common room. Why?"

Yūji breathed a sigh of relief, and waved his hands in front of Megumi's face.

"Never mind," he smiled, scratching the back of his head. "Maybe it's their stuff, then. I'll leave it there for them to collect in the morning."

Megumi promptly shut the door in Yūji's face, leaving the Itadori to toddle back to his room in contentment.

"No big deal," he shrugged to himself, clutching tightly onto his water bottle. "It's probably their stuff. They'll take it in the morning."

With that, Yūji pushed all thought of the mysterious items out of his head, and wasted no time in diving back under his warm blankets.
