Lunch

It has been a few weeks since I started working at the company. At the start I messed up in one of the accountings and Jack shouted at me in front of the whole department.

He expected me to cry or something but I didn't, I had already been through this a number of times in my past life.

So I just kept my calm and listened to his corrections.

Everyone was surprised I didn't break under his tough attitude and constant corrections.

I was given charge of one of the smaller projects. If I was able to pull it off I would be going on the buisness trip to Seattle.

I formed a team and put them through hell. I kinda feel bad but this project in the novel was an important one. It seemed like a small project and because of already so many projects on their hand Luna's dad didn't take the offer. Then in the novel the 2 men whose idea it was went to another company and the idea blew up and got huge profits.

However, now that Luna was here, Jack gave it to her.

Finally now we were presenting the final project we spent weeks perfecting.

''...and that's the end'' I finished explaining the project.

Everyone in the room was silent wide eyed. Wait! did I mess up!?

Then i saw my dad and Jack smiling at me. whew, I guess I didn't mess up.

They all started clapping and after the formalities I was finally alone.

'' You did good'' I turned around to see Jack.

I smiled '' Am I good enough to come to Seattle with you now?'' 

'' Wipe that smug smile of your face. Yes, you can come. I am a man of my word'' he said fake sighing

'' uh-huh'' I said still smiling.

''You wanna get something to eat?'' he asked

'' Sure. What do you want?'' I asked

'' Sushi'' he said quickly

I looked at him

''hmm, didn't know you were a sushi guy'' I said smirking

'' Yeah, I am got a problem with that.'' He asked with narrowed eyes

'' No. no problem sushi boy'' I said with a laugh walking past him

'' So what do you do in your free time?'' I asked. I wanted Jack to have at least one friend. If not a friend someone he can talk to. In the novel he has no friends and is mostly alone until he dies in a car accident.

''Sleep'' he said

'' Thought you'd say that'' I said picking up my sushi

He just rolled his eyes

'' You should get some hobbies. All work and no fun makes Jack a very dull boy''

''Ha Ha very funny'' he laughed sarcastically

''What do you do?'' he asked

I looked up surprised. I didn't thing he would follow up on this convo. He mostly keeps conversation with others to a minimum.

He rolled his eyes'' Well, we certainly can't just sit and eat and YOU started the conversation'' he said

I laughed at his defensiveness.

'' Yeah, I read a lot or I help Alex with his school or just spend time with me'' I said

'' That sounds nice. How old is your son?'' he asked

''3'' I said

'' Yeah, that's a good time to be alive'' he said dramatically sighing

 I laughed out loud and a few seconds he too started laughing. After we both had calmed down

I started ''So you can be funny to-'' but was cut off by

'' What are you doing?'' 

I turned around to see Ryan looking at me and Jack with a muredrous glint in his eyes.
