NEWT POV

"Oh, shit." I say, now fully removing myself from Thomas. "Where was she last seen?" I ask Minho.

"Whenever you last saw her, Newt." Minho says.

"Aw, shit. That was like an hour ago." I say.

Thomas wraps an arm around me. "Well, we have to find her." He says.

"Yes, Tommy, I'm aware." I say blankly.

Minho looks between us. "Alright, let's split up."

"No." Thomas says.

"What do you mean, no?" Minho asks.

"I mean no, we're not splitting up." He says, taking my hand. "If you wanna go galavanting around with some random girl on the loose, be my guest. But I'm not leaving Newt."

Minho looks at me. "Oh, how sweet." He says sarcastically. "Yes, you are, it's better this way."

"Listen, Minho, maybe he's right." I say.

"Oh, you just don't want to leave your boyfriend." He says the last word with venom. "Whatever, I don't care." He walks away.

I look after him.

"Come on." Thomas says, pulling me along. "Let's go."

We walk along the beach, looking for Elizabeth.

I hear someone whisper my name.

"What was that?" I ask, jumping.

"What was what?" Thomas asks.

I hear it again.

"I swear someone is whispering my name!" I cry.

Thomas looks at me.

"Newt!"

We both hear it this time. We turn around and Elizabeth stands before us.

"WHOA!" Thomas cries, stumbling backwards and falling.

I sigh, pulling him up.

"Elizabeth, why did you run?" I ask.

She looks at me, her bright green eyes watching me. "This is why."

She start to lift her shirt.

"AH!" I say. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Oh, don't be a baby." She says, hitting my arm. She lifts her shirt up to her stomach.

I feel Thomas shift beside me. Against her bare skin, I see a black dot.

"What the hell is that?" I ask.

She shakes her head. "I don't know. It appeared a few days ago. It's grown." She says, looking back up at me.

"Well, that's not concerning at all!" Thomas says sarcastically.

"Shut up, Tommy." I say, studying the dot. "Well, that's certainly odd." I look back up at her. "Is this why you came here?"

"I told you already, I don't remember." She repeats, lowering her shirt.

I nod, backing up from her. "And you ran because you didn't want anyone finding out?" I ask

She nods. "They can't know. They might kick me out."

"Well, Elizabeth, they might anyway." I say. "You come here with unknown purposes and it's gonna raise a few eyebrows."

"I better go back though, huh?" She asks nervously.
