Tenten and Reno were packed, ready to leave for their honeymoon on the sea. However, they had both decided they had to watch the challenge that was about to take place before setting out because it was bound to be entertaining. They were standing on top of the Hokage's mountain, looking out across the village. Kakashi and Iruka were off to their right. Tiberius was holding baby Carolyn in his lap, unusually quiet for him. He had been scowling when they arrived, a perpetual expression since he was denied Genin; however, the baby in his arms was making it impossible for him to stay that way. She looked at him with such adoring eyes he couldn't help but grin at her. Obito was perched on top of his father's shoulders, his hand to his forehead as he shielded his eyes against the sun as he looked for the contestants.
Guy was the one who would decide who won the challenge. He was grinning ear to ear at the finish line, fully confident his wife would win. He looked like a puffed up peacock as he stood waiting for them to arrive. Even Naruto and Shikamaru had come to watch the race as a break from their work.
Sarah, Melissa, and Misti were on the far side of the village. Melissa groaned loudly, looking at the other two. "I don't know why y'all are including me in this. You know I don't run, the girls just knock me in the face."
Sarah smirked, "If I have to run with a hangover, so do you."
Misti laughed, "Ah come on, where is your spirit of competition?! We got our own audience waiting and this is a free for all. Anything goes!"
"You've been with Guy too long," Sarah and Melissa said in unison.
Misti laughed, finishing up her stretches. "Stop your bellyaching, you both lost fair and square."
Sarah nudged Melissa, "Use your Ninjutsu to keep up. It will help you go faster. I plan on using mine. I'd love to smoke her at least once."
"Alright, ladies, are you ready?!" Rock Lee said to their left.
Sarah put her hands together, giving a nod. Melissa gave a long sigh then did the same.
"On your marks. Get set. Go!"
Sarah swept Misti's legs out from beneath her before running off with a laugh as her friend hit the dirt. Melissa howled with laughter and ran after her. At least they had a small head start against the exercise fanatic. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Sarah weaving hand signs and she quickly followed suit. The chakra increasing their speed exponentially as they ran. Sarah pulled ahead as she was used to running every day with Kakashi.
Melissa already felt like she was dying. She really should have started exercising after having Carolyn but Iruka didn't mind a little plump to her figure. If it wasn't for the chakra flowing through her, she would have already given up. She turned her head and saw Misti coming up fast. She knew she would not win the race but she could help Sarah win. It would be fun to see Sarah one up Misti in exercise at least once and the look on Guy's face would be priceless.
She grabbed the closest thing she passed and tossed it at Misti. Misti laughed then grabbed something as well as they got almost side by side with each other. Melissa could almost imagine they looked just like Kakashi and Guy once had as they tossed objects at each other.
Kakashi was howling with laughter as he watched the show below, secretly proud that his wife had a considerable start on the other two who were so preoccupied with each other they lost track of her in the forefront. Guy had stiffened.
"Kakashi, I do believe Melissa is intentionally trying to stall my wife!"
Kakashi howled louder at the tone in his eternal rival's voice. Naruto and Shikamaru was cheering Sarah on as she was already running up the side of the mountain. Misti suddenly seemed aware of what Melissa was doing because she dodged the next item she lunged at her then sprinted ahead. She was gaining speed and catching up fast to Sarah.
"I'm going to get you for tripping me, Sarah," Misti yelled after her.
"Gotta catch me first," Sarah yelled back as a blue glow began to surround her and her eyes turned to blue fire.
"Now that's not fair!"
"You're the one that said it was a free for all!" Sarah yelled back as she streaked up the side of the mountain.
"Come on, Sarah!" Kakashi yelled.
"Misti, my vital flower, you still have this!" Guy yelled.
Guy's voice seemed to push Misti on as she gained more speed. They were almost neck and neck as they came up over the side and towards the finish line. The two were almost there when they both stopped, looked at each other, laughed then hooked arms and walked across at the same time. Kakashi and Guy's mouths dropped open.
"What kind of ending was that?!" The two men howled.
"Unlike you two, we are quite content to finish in a tie!" Sarah said with a cheeky grin.
Iruka grabbed Melissa up as she finally made it over the top and swung her around. "I'm very proud of you and that was quite impressive how you stalled Misti."
Sarah's eyes were still burning with blue fire when all of a sudden, the air split open and a woman fell out of a portal in front of them. Naruto's eyes widened and he turned towards her with a look of thunder. Her eyes were just as large as she looked at the unfamiliar woman and threw her hands up when he looked like he was going to throttle her. Kakashi groaned and covered his face and pandemonium broke out.
"I SWEAR TO GOD IT WASN'T ME THIS TIME!" Sarah howled.
Reno and Tenten looked at each other then started laughing loudly. Now that was a great send off for them before they left on their honeymoon! Reno pulled Tenten close and gave her a long, lingering kiss as chaos erupted around them.
