Kakashi Hatake came out of his sleep with a start. His senses were alive and his ears instantly began to search for the slightest sound. He narrowed his eyes, searching the darkness with his Sharingan. He then felt the body next to him jerk slightly, a moan filling the still night air. He gave a heavy sigh and rolled towards his wife. He pulled her closer to his body, hoping that his presence would stop the nightmare.
Three weeks now. She had been having violent nightmares for three weeks. When she would wake up, she would not remember the details of the dreams. She had been only insistent about one thing, they were about her brother, Reno. A very faint blue glow was forming around her as she twitched in his arms. This was getting out of hand.
"Reno," she mumbled in her sleep. "No, Reno..."
Kakashi was beginning to wonder if these were not nightmares. They had learned a year before that her particular Jutsu was a carry over from her former life. Not only could she create portals between worlds and teleport to any location she fixed in her mind, she could see the future and distant places. They had no incidents since she had gained control over it. Not until now.
"Ssssh," he whispered against her ear. "I'm here, it's okay."
Sarah suddenly sat up in the bed, her eyes were wide and burning with blue fire. She was speaking in that ancient language as she peered into whatever she could see and he could not. Her hands were moving in that way that he recognized and he made a move to stop her. Not again, she couldn't do it again.
"No, Kakashi," she said suddenly. "I have to do this or he will die."
Kakashi watched as she completed the hand signs and a small portal opened up in their room. He grabbed her as he heard what sounded like fast moving rocks coming towards them. The wood behind their head splintered as objects so small slammed into it. Only because of his Sharingan was he able to see the smooth metal casings before they tore into the wall where she had been sitting up only seconds before. He turned towards the portal and saw a large body come through and crash to the ground with a loud thud.
Sarah folded her hands together and the opening abruptly closed. Kakashi watched as a man, a rather large one at that, rolled to his feet with a large knife in hand. He was covered in blood and what he could only assume was brain matter. His uniform was dirty and dusty. Kakashi grabbed his Kunai and for a split second, the two of them eyed each other with distrust. He could see that the other man knew how to handle himself.
"STOP!" Sarah yelled. "Reno! Kakashi! STOP!"
The man across from his became still and abruptly dropped the knife into the sheath on his leg. He pulled off his battered and ripped helmet as he turned towards Sarah. He pulled what looked like two little headphones from his ears. He dropped the helmet when he saw her and ran towards her. Kakashi moved to intercept but Sarah's raised hand stopped him in his tracks as the other man grabbed her up tight and off the bed entirely.
"You were dead... Fuck Sarah... You were dead... That's what they relayed to me."
Kakashi slowly put the Kunai to the side. So this was Reno. He was a huge man, easily six foot four inches if not taller. He had large, hulking arms and thighs that were thick with muscles. He was so large in fact that his wife looked like a doll in his arms, especially with her feet hanging loose in the air.
"I'm not dead," she laughed and held him back just as tight as he was her. "I was brought here to Naruto's universe."
Reno set her on the ground, towering over her as he looked intently at her. He then shifted his eyes to where Kakashi was standing. "Fuck... is that?"
"Yes, Kakashi Hatake and my husband."
Reno's eyes widened and then he started laughing hard. He dropped down on his butt to the floor and continued to laugh while reaching into his front pocket for a cigarette. He lit it and took a drag before shaking his head to laugh some more.
"If this is real... Fuck, this is priceless." Reno laughed harder, his shoulders shaking. "You actually managed to get banged by Kakashi. That's awesome."
Sarah scowled at him, "Ugh. Put that damn thing away. You know I quit smoking ages ago."
"Sissy, if you had just gone through what I just did... you'd be back to being a chain smoker quick. Give me this will you?" Reno lowered his head.
Sarah's face changed to compassion and she knelt down in front of him. "I saw what was happening, Reno. I couldn't leave you there to die. You were seconds from death."
"Tell me about it," he said while sucking in on the cigarette and catching the ash in his hand. "My whole team was wiped out. Motherfuckers!"
Reno stood and went to the window, flicking the cigarette outside before running his hand across his buzzed dark blond hair. "How did you..."
"Come on, baby brother, let's go talk in the kitchen. This is going to take a while. Are you hungry? Thirsty?"
"Both," he responded with a tight smile.
Kakashi recognized the signs of a man that had been fighting for long hours without sleep. His eyes had that familiar look in them of one who had watched all his comrades die around him only to be the last one standing. He looked over at him as Sarah turned on the light and for the first time, he saw that he had the same eyes of his sister. That green-brown hazel that they shared with their mother.
Other than the eyes, there were very few similarities between them. Reno had more narrowed almond shaped eyes and his skin tone was dark with an olive undertone. His nose was the same as their mother's and his chin was square and firm. His hair was darker than Sarah's, with only faint traces of blond in it which was hard to see because it was cropped so close to his head.
He jutted a large hand out to him, "I'm Reno. Nice to meet you finally Kakashi." His hand was firm as he lowered his voice, "I don't care who you are if you hurt my sissy I'll kill you."
"Reno!" Sarah snapped at him. "For the love of god, we've been married for five years now."
A puzzled expression crossed the other man's face as he swung back around towards her while dropping Kakashi's hand, "WHAT?!"
She gave him a slight smile, "I told you, there is a lot to talk about. Come on now and stop trying to intimidate Kakashi. He could kick your ass before you even saw it coming."
Kakashi smirked and followed her out of the room. Reno stood staring after them for a moment and then started laughing. "I can't wait to hear this."
