Khao walked inside the school, feeling on edge and embarrassed. He'd fallen asleep the day before, all from Nin massaging his back and shoulders! He could feel his face heating at the memory. How could he have done that?? Nin must think him a baby!

"Are you still freaking out over falling asleep in the locker room?" Maew asked, one corner of his mouth turned up in amusement. "Dude, it's fine. I've dozed off in there after practice before. It's no big deal."

Khao grimaced. "You don't understand, Maew. P'Nin was working the knots out of my back, and I fell asleep before he was done."

Moji's eyes about popped out of his head. "He was working you over??" His voice got shrill and squeaky towards the end.

Khao couldn't help laughing when Maew smacked Moji on the back of the head. "Not the way you're thinking, you pervert. He said I had a lot of tense and knotted muscles, and that if I hadn't done anything about it, I could've injured myself and had to sit out the season."

"Man, that would've sucked," Maew said, making a face. "Still...I can't believe he massaged your back, and I even saw some of it! Well, when he was rubbing pain balm into your bruise, at least."

Moji's wide eyes turned on Maew. "Khao's hurt?? What happened?"

"I took a tumble at practice the other day," Khao said dismissively. "It's nothing big. I got bruises all the time back in Japan. I'm used to it."

"Still," Moji pouted, not liking that his friend had been hurt. "You need to take care of yourself. Maybe you should find a massage therapist to keep your body feeling good."

"That costs money, Moji."

"So? Better money spent on massages than on lengthy hospital visits or physical therapy."

Maew and Khao both looked at him like he was nuts.

"What??" He frowned. "If Khao injures himself, he could wind up in the hospital! And people who are in the hospital almost always need physical therapy! Stop looking at me like I have two heads!"

On one hand, Khao was pleased that his friend cared so much about him. On the other, he was irritated that Moji was making a big deal out of nothing. That, and...

"So, you get all crazy when you think Khao might get injured, but you say nothing about me?" Maew folded his arms, a mocking smirk on his face.

That, Khao sighed inwardly. He knew Moji wouldn't see the genuine hurt in Maew's eyes.

Moji wrinkled his nose. "I've watched you for years, Maew. You know how to take care of yourself, and if I nagged at you the least little bit, you'd try to smack me on the head."

Maew blinked. He couldn't deny any of what Moji had said. He shook his head.

"I just hope P'Nin won't use my falling on him against me," Khao said mournfully, knowing full well the senior most likely would.

Maew remembered that. "Just pretend it never happened. Act like normal around him, as if that tumble during practice was a dream and not real. Eventually, it won't bother you anymore."

Khao looked at Maew uncertainly. "Are you sure that will work? Won't he see through it and keep bugging me about it anyway?"

"Not unless you let it bother you. Rising to the bait is what keeps him coming back. If you want him to leave you alone, stop reacting. Don't let him see how much he gets to you."

Moji nodded, agreeing with Maew's words. "He's right. A similar thing happened with me back in lower secondary, and I ignore the dude until he eventually lost interest and didn't bother me again."
