Hikaru bit her lower lip, anxiety growing fast. How had Nin known where to find her?? And how did he know she was Khao?? A quick glance at Kaede told her. Kaede had a surprised and slightly guilty expression.

"I...might've let it slip...when I screamed at him," Kaede stammered, fidgeting with her fingers and looking everywhere but at Hikaru. "Sorry..."

"It's fine," Hikaru sighed, forcing the anxiety down. "I was gonna tell him anyway."

Nin cocked his head. "You were?"

"Of course I was," Hikaru snapped. "It's not my fault you jump to stupid conclusions and accuse people before they can even try to explain. Hot head."

He frowned, but said nothing. Really, what could he say? What she'd said was pretty much true.

"Anyway," Hikaru folded her arms. "I think you and I should have talk. One on one."

"Hika-chan," Kaede began.

"Just the two of us, Kaede-chan," Hikaru said firmly, eyeing her sister. "We need to talk freely without an audience."

Maew and Moji filed past Nin out the door, both shooting the senior a severe warning look. If he hurt Hikaru, they'd make sure he regretted it.

Daichi paused next to him. "That is my sibling, and if you hurt her, I will break your neck," he said pleasantly, sending a chill up Nin's spine. "Are we clear?"

"C-crystal," Nin choked, staring as Daichi patted his shoulder in a friendly manner then followed Maew and Moji out.

Kaede walked out next, glaring at him.

Then Hikaru finally walked out, waii-ing Tee before grasping Nin's wrist and dragging him out of the cafe. She let him go as they walked down the sidewalk away from the small group. Nin glanced at her a few times. It was hard for him to believe this gorgeous girl and his adorable Khao were one and the same. But he could definitely see the similarities.

They both bit at their lips the same way.

They both had that small crease between their eyebrows when deep in thought.

They both clasped their hands behind the back when walking, seemingly without thinking about it.

Their eyes were the same beautiful brown with gold flecks, boy or girl.

Nin sighed to himself, wondering what Hikaru was thinking about. Was she worrying abut the possibility of her changing back into a boy? Nin glanced at her again, hiding a smile when he saw she was still wearing the boy's uniform. Probably hadn't packed a change of clothes for the curse removal, thinking it wouldn't work. According to what Nin had heard, they'd find out for sure tomorrow around this time.

"P'Nin," she finally spoke.

He stopped, turning to face her.

She looked up at him. He realized that she was shorter than she had been as a guy. That'll make it hard to kiss, then mentally smacked himself. Why did he keep having these thoughts??

"I lived in Hakata Ward, in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Fukuoka city back in Japan up until a few weeks before this school year. I have a younger twin sister, Kaede, and a brother that's two years older than us, Daichi. My phor is Tatsuo Akahoshi, and widowed. My mae died seven years ago, due to a weak heart and pneumonia. After her death, we moved in and lived with my paternal grandfather, aunt and uncle, and their children. It was cramped, but cozy because we were family."

Nin nodded as she spoke. He hadn't known about any of this, but he found it interesting, the more he learned about her.

"Then," Hikaru continued, finding a seat on the curb. Nin sat next to her. "Our phor was transferred to Tokyo Consulting, and he decided to move the whole family here instead of coming by himself. My sister and I were against the move. We loved our school and our friends, and our mae's grave was back in Japan. Why was he making us leave everything behind? Still, we were forced to come here and make ourselves a new life. The only thing good at the time was that he'd given me my own room." She smiled bitterly. "I didn't know that Kaede was suffering from separation anxiety. We were only positioned at opposite ends of the house, so I figured that was close enough for her. I had felt suffocated all those years, living in the same room as my sister, and wanted my freedom. I didn't know she depended on me so much."
