I honestly thought that would be awkward but that was fine. I think I really have to get used to having him around now even if I don't like it one bit.
"Aurelia!" I hear someone say as I'm walking down the passageway. I quickly turn my head towards the voice and I see Cindy waving for me to come and sit with her. She's wearing a pink high low top and black jean. Her hair is tied in a tight bun and she has very light makeup on. She's sitting with a guy who has really cute looks. He has black short hair and he's fair. He's wearing a plaid button down shirt and jeans with converse.
I walk towards her and take a seat next to her. We sit on either side of Cindy.
"Why didn't you come for Psychology?" I ask her, remembering all of the fascinating things she was saying about the subject the last time I met her.
"I had to drop it because of financial issues." I can see she's not very happy talking about it so I drop it and don't bother asking her anything more about it. I can understand that she must be very hurt about it. The guy sitting with us seems to be uncomfortable because Cindy hasn't really introduced him yet.
"Forget all that" she says in her chirpy self way, "this is Ryan, he's a freshman like us."
"Hi Ryan" I say leaning forward and I give him a small smile.
"I'm sorry but I didn't get your name when Cindy said it" he seems embarrassed or something, he rubs the back of his head.
"Aurelia, kinda tricky to get in the first go haha"
"What subjects do you take?"
"I'm taking Psychology, maths, English and statistics" I say "what about you?"
"I hate Maths! But uh..yeah I've taken maths, advanced English and computers" he says rubbing the back of his head again, he seems to be doing that quite a lot.
"You don't get maths?" I ask him
"I hate it" Cindy just seems to be moving her head from right to left as we speak to each other. "Hello I'm here too" she says snapping her fingers in front of your faces.
“Cindy! Yoohoo” A blonde girl who looks a lot like her calls out for her from the other side.
“Okay you guys carry on, I’m really sorry but I have to go. She's my sister" she says and leaves us both to ourselves.
"Sooo umm, how are you doing today?" he asks me very awkwardly.
"I'm doing good" I chuckle, "How are you?"
"Oh God lets cut the crap, this is so formal, tell me something about yourself" he says batting his hands in the air
"You already know my name. I love helping out everyone. I'm really passionate about dancing. I'm always smiling even if I'm angry at someone I smile, it's kinda stupid but yeah I do. I believe everyone in this world is good and a beautiful human being even if you think that's crap, that's how I view the world. I think we should always laugh and forgive people not for them but for ourselves." I say and look up at him
He doesn't say a word. For probably 45 seconds we're staring into each other's eyes and I snap him out of it.
"I'm sorry but that was really heart felt, have you ever spoken like this to anyone else?" he questions me. He shifts so that his legs are crossed on the bench and I shift my posture to look straight at him.
"Ever spoken like this to anyone in the sense?"
"Like what you told me, I felt like you really wanted to talk to someone, like um,,, you haven't spoken to anyone like that in forever.." he says and I agree. I'ts true, the last time I opened up like that was so long ago that I cannot even recall it. I always fear that there's no use opening up to anyone because at the end they all hurt you.
"Maybe" I laugh a little and he joins me.
"Hey so, I'm going to head back to my dorms, it's been a long day and it's becoming dark." I stand up and pick up my book.
"I'll drop you" he stands up and follows me.
We talk about how the professors and the first week of university has been so far while he walks me to my dorm block.
"So which floor are you on" he says looking up at the building.
"Oh um,, the fourth. It's so creepy up there like no one lives on the 4th floor or something lol" I say.
As we walk to the entrance, I see a guy trying to enter the building but he can't. Justin. He rubs the back of his head in frustration. I hope he doesn't turn around....and as if on cue or something he turns around to see Ryan and I.
I really can't seem to concentrate on what Ryan is telling me because I'm so damn concerned about what's going on in Justin's head.
"This is me" I say and Ryan brings his hand forward and I shake it.
"Thank you so much" I say as he makes his way back to the ground.
I walk towards Justin who is looking at me with emotion I just can't seem to comprehend. I silently walk towards the scanner and scan my ID.
Awkward silence.
We both enter the building and I walk ahead of him.
"Who was that?" he asks looking at me walk past him. I stop in my tracks and turn to face him.
"What does that mean?"
"I asked who that was?" he said walking close to me.
"Why do you want to know?"
His body is so God damn close to mine. I can feel his skin softly brisking against mine and I don't budge.
"Aurelia." he says so soft, it's a whisper.
"Justin" I whisper back.
"What's his name?"
"I'm not going to tell you. What the hell is wrong with you? We are just group partners, I'm not even friends with you and you have the nerve to ask me who he is?" I half scream and walk towards the lift.
The lift opens and Justin is no where to be seen as I enter the lift.
"Wow talk about awkward" I say to the empty space in front of me.
