It's my fault...It's my fault..!
Its my fault!
Why did I leave him alone with Dream?! Why didn't I put a guard there or something?! I COULD'VE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY YET I DIDN'T! WHY?!
Why..?
Thoughts were swarming Sam's mind as he tried to focus on the task at hand, watching the prison. While it wasn't a difficult task it sure was stressful. Inevitably he decided that he should check on the main cell so he got up from the front of the prison. Why you may ask? Paranoia. Ever since Tommy passed he can't help but feel like if he leaves the main cell, even for a little bit, something bad will happen.
Though staying on the job 24/7 was really degrading his mental and physical health. While he already was dealing with getting over the whole egg trauma now he has to deal with the fact he let Tommy, a child, die in his prison.
He reached the main cell and just leaned against the wall next to the lava. Sleep was becoming an issue though as he struggled to stay awake. Even so, a voice did get him awake.
"Hey, Sam?" Dream asked.
"What..?" Sam replied, exhaustion clear in his voice.
"Y'know Tommy called for you in his last moments."
"W-What..?" Sam's voice was shaking.
Dream knew exactly what he was doing, for he's done this process before. Confirm they're beliefs, "Yeah, and I think we can both agree that it was your fault it happened." It was a step by step process he's come to know well. Add in some other things to add to the stress. "To be honest I don't know why he rescued you from the egg." Remind them of past trauma to leave them vulnerable, "Wonder what would've happened if Puffy and him didn't come?"
Sam's knees buckled and he curled himself into a ball. He started to panic more as his throat seemed to be closed. Putting his hands on his neck he scratched, a desperate attempt at distracting himself or at least give him some air. It wasn't working so he did the next best thing, flee. Shakily he stood up and began walking away. Letting his legs do the work as he tried to calm down but only seemed to get worse when he left. He saw the lectern and collapsed against it curling as tight as he could. The voice of the egg ringing in his ears, repeating what it said to him when he was in that obsidian box. To him his surroundings changed and he was trapped in that box all over again. But the eggs voice had more to say as it added on to say he was the cause of Tommy's death.
'Help... Me...'

Puffy was walking over to the prison to check on a certain creeper hybrid. She hadn't scene or heard from him in a while and was growing concerned. Walking over to the entrance of the prison she clicked the button in hopes he'd let her come in. When she received no response her concern only grew. She decided to whisper to him in chat, "Hey Sam, can I come into the prison? I wanna talk with you!"
When Sam heard the communicator ding he shakily brung his arm towards it, utterly terrified. He read the message and responded, "Please do... Doors open..." Setting his communicator down he got consumed by the eggs voice once again.
This set off red flags in Puffy's mind as her mama instinct went wild. She rushed to the portal and found that they take way to long in these kinds of situations. After getting to the lobby of the prison she was confused when she saw no one, until she heard a small whimper coming from behind the lectern. Going over to it slowly as to not scare the poor man she sat down next to him, shock causing her not to speak.
She's never scene Sam in this state before. Shaking badly, hands covering his ears, tears cascading down his face, neck red and irritated from scratching, and all around looked awful. "Oh my gosh Sam..." Puffy grabbed his hands to try and stop the death grip on his ears, while successful Sam panicked not registering that it was Puffy. He thought she was the vines and pushed himself as tightly against the lectern as possible.
"Calm down Sam, it's only me..." Puffy kept her voice soft.
"P-Puffy..?" Opening his eyes he felt himself relax a bit but was still tense.
"The one and only. Now can you tell me where you are?"
"The..." His mind was coming back to reality, "the prison..." Feeling his throat seemingly open up he relaxed. "Th-Thank you, Puffy..."
"Anytime Sam, but do you know what caused that? Cause that was a pretty bad attack..."
"Well guess there's no point in lying about it. I was over by Dreams cell and he... Y'know, said some triggering things that normally wouldn't cause something major to happen but this time they did..."
"Sam I'm gonna need you to be truthful in this... how long have you spent at the prison..? Cause you look exhausted..."
"Since Tommy..." Sam trailed off looking away, he knew it wasn't the healthiest thing but he also didn't like leaving the prison unguarded with all that's been happening.
"Sam..."
"I know it's not good to do but I can't just leave the prison alone after something like that happens! What if someone manages to breach? What if Dream had a plan behind it? What if-"
"Sam stop. Your just stressing yourself out. How about we get Ant or Bad to guard while you go off duty? As much as I don't trust them I doubt they'll actually do anything. Besides they're the guards right?"
"I-I mean yeah but-"
"Than it's settled. Your taking at least a day off and Bad or Ant will guard the prison."
After Sam got in contact with the two Puffy dragged him out back to his home for some much needed rest. It ended up being 3 days off though after Puffy found out he hadn't been taking care of himself period.
