During Sam's usual routine of making sure everythings in order something unexpected happened. Dream managed to leave his cell. Sam wasn't on his A game today and accidentally left the platform up, his mind was being kinda fuzzy from lack of sleep. Dream, knowing the layout of the prison, easily found where the weapons were, though he couldn't find the armour. Getting a maxed out sword he went to find where Sam was, he wasn't pleased that he kept him there for so long. When Sam noticed Dream escaped he was quick to lock down the exits to the prison.
Unfortunately, Dream was quick to notice it from the noises the prison began making. He simply grinned, 'Like a trapped animal,' Dream thought to himself, gripping his new sword. Anxiety ridden and tired Sam decided to stay where he was, but hidden, he was in the control room. Dream couldn't get out unless he came in here. So with his hopes on not dying he waited for Dream to enter, his eyes on the security cams.
"Oh, Sammy! Where are you? I wanna talk with ya!" Dream called out sounding almost normal but he still had an insane tone to his voice. The look on his face would give anyone a shiver. Sam knew what Dream was capable of and didn't want to face him head on, or at all really, but he knew he had too in order to insure the safety of the server. "Don't act like you can't hear me~! I know where you are!" The warden may not be showing it through facial expressions but he was terrified. Who wouldn't be? One of the best known fighters and villains was after him, and they were not happy.
Sam froze when he heard footsteps approaching but quickly shook it off knowing freezing would do him nothing. Gripping his sword and Sam was about to jump Dream but he didn't get the chance since Dream seemed to have the same idea. "Did you honestly think you of all people could get a jump on me of all people?" Dream laughed out as he slashed Sam in the arm. Scrambling to get his bearings Sam quickly got to his feet and got into a fighting stance. "You're not going to win this Sammy."
"Then I'll go down trying." After stating that he made the first move and attacked Dream. Sam managed to land a hit and cause some critical damage since Dream didn't have any armor on him. But being outmatched this wasn't going to be an easy fight. The fight wasn't easy but Sam did come out on top, managing to knock Dream out with a quick hit to the head.
Sighing, he mumbled to himself, "My arm can wait, I need to get Dream back to his cell and finish up what I was doing." After getting Dream into his cell Sam finished what he was doing and began his walk home but ran into a certain sheep individual. He quickly tried to keep his arm out of sight, he didn't need someone worrying over him right now.
"Hey Sam, what's up? We haven't talked in ages!"
"Uh, yeah nothing much. I'm in a bit of a rush s-so uh, yeah..!"
"Are you okay? Ya seem nervous, something happen?" Puffy asked with concern clear in her voice.
"Yup everythings fine I just need to-to get home..!" Sam replied trying to hurry things along with the pain in his arm growing more and more evident. He subconsciously covered his arm.
"Where'd you get that wound?" Tone switching from concerned to serious Sam froze.
His voice wasn't carroperating but he managed to stutter out, "It-It's nothing really I was just about to head home and get it bandaged." Sam replied, starting to walk away only for Puffy to interrupt.
"Sam your house is a while away. Why don't you come over to mine? I've got medical supplies." After contemplating his options Sam decided to just go with her knowing it'd be better if he did. Upon arrival Puffy had Sam sit down on the bed and she went off to get the supplies. "So what happened?"
"What do you mean?" Sam smiled nervously, he really didn't want to talk about this, people were already losing trust in him to run the prison.
"Where'd you get the wound from Sam?" Puffy asked as she walked over to him, she was about to start doing the process of cleaning the wound.
"Oh I can do that you don't have too-"
"Sam it's fine. Besides I'd just feel like a jerk letting you do this one handed."
"A-Alright..."
"So..." Puffy trailed off getting Sam's attention, "what happened?"
"Um, prison incident..." Puffy gave an alarmed look to Sam after hearing that, "it was taken care! I got everything taken care of!"
"Sam, how did Dream get out?" Sam gave her a confused look on how she seemed to know what happened, "this is a stab wound and Dream is currently the only one locked in the prison."
"Oh, right..." Sam looked down but answered despite him really not wanting to, "uh, so the platform was left up from someone's previous visit and Dream, of course, used that to get out. But after I found out I locked down the prison and made sure he got back into his cell, so everythings fine now!" His words became more and more rushed as he talked but Puffy got the jist.
"How'd you forget to lower the platform?" There wasn't a bite to Puffy's voice like Sam was expecting.
"I was tired and must've forgotten about it, probably more focused on the visitor than anything. I know that's not a valid excuse but-"
"No, no it's not. How much sleep have you been getting and were you even planning on telling anyone about this?"
"N-No..? I didn't want to worry anyone..."
"That's not healthy, Sam..."
"I know, I know..."
"How much sleep have you been getting?"
Sam paused to think for a moment not entirely sure himself, but was quick to come up with an answer of some sort, "Well with me staying late at the prison and having to get up early to complete the things for the day I'd say maybe 2-3 hours a night? If I'm lucky 4-5, but it's fine I can survive on that without a problem today was just a fluke."
"And there will be more flukes if you don't fix that sleeping schedule, maybe hiring more people to do some of the extra chores would be better than doing it all on your own."
"Maybe..."
"No, definitely. I can help you find people if ya need!"
"No, I don't wanna cause you any more trouble."
"Don't worry, it won't be a problem at all!"
"Alright if you're sure..."
"100%."
From that day onward Puffy was keeping a closer eye on Sam's health and they both had succeeded in finding some extra help for the prison. Sam may need a reminder every now and then but he was getting better at it. And that's all that matters.
