"My foolish heart will trust just anyone, it's so naive."

I stared up at the ceiling as the images from last night replayed in my head, I couldn't believe this was all just a joke to him.

Last night made me really think about my feelings for August, when we were younger I always had a little crush on him but I never acted on it because of my cousin.

I thought about telling him but I knew he'd never feel the same way...

But last night I believed that maybe he did.

I shook my head and mumbled, "how stupid am I..."

I grabbed my phone and emailed August everything he was going to be doing today and all the details.

I wasn't planning on seeing or talking to him today.

Before I could lock my phone it rang and a unknown number displayed across the screen,

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Jazmine? This is Jeremih, your friend gave me your number last night I hope you don't mind." Jeremih said with a chuckle.

Crystal.

"Oh no it's fine, what's up?" I asked as I sat up a little on my bed.

"Well I was wondering if I could take you out for lunch today?" He asked confidently.

I couldn't help the smile that was tugging on my lips, "Are you asking me on a date?"

"Somethin' like that." He said, I could practically hear him smirking.

"Uh,sure, why not?" I pushed my hair out of my face and looked over at my clock, "What time do you want me to meet you and where are we going?" I asked.

"How about I pick you up? I mean if that's coo' with you, be ready by about one." He said.

"Sure I'll text you me address," I said as I quickly threw the covers off of my body and made my way to my bathroom.

"Ight, I'll see you."

I said a quick goodbye and got dressed.

After stressing about what to wear for about fifteen minutes, I decided on wearing something dressy but casual.

I quickly texted him my address, then sat on my couch and fidgeted nervously as I waited for him. I had little experience in dating and I was really worried about how this date would go, soon I was on my feet pacing and trying to talk myself into calling him and canceling.

I quickly grabbed my phone and started to dial his number when I heard a knock on my door.

"It'll go fine.." I reminded myself as I walked over to the door.

"Hey let me just-" my smile quickly dropped as I saw August.

"I don't want to talk to you." I said bitterly. I tried to close the door but he caught it with his foot,

"What's up with the email you sent me? You don't look sick, so why ain't you at work?" He questioned.

"I didn't say I was sick, I said I wasn't going to be coming in today." I replied dryly.

"Well usually that means someone's sick, you're my assistant you don't get days off that's not what I pay you for." He said indignantly.

"Yeah, well, I just needed some time to think." I apathetically sighed and plopped onto my couch, "plus you'll be fine without me, you never acknowledge my presence anyway."
