"Nobody knows what I go through."

I laughed as I stepped out of the car with August's brother Melvin. He was pretty cool and I actually had a good time with him.

"You mad chill ma'." He said as he leaned against the hood of his car.

"I know." I said with a smirk on my lips.

"What I tell you about that cocky that shit?" He said with a playful smile.
I rolled my eyes and laughed lightly.
"You should meet my girl she remind me of you." He said.

"You gotta girlfriend? Aw that's so cute." I cooed at him.

"Shut all that shit up yeah I gotta girlfriend." He said clearly embarrassed by my teasing.

I let out a small laugh at how uncomfortable he was, I opened my mouth to continue harassing him about his girlfriend when somebody interrupted us.

"Aye Mel, I'm ready to go." I heard Augusts voice say from behind me.

I turned around to see him fixing his belt buckle as he walked down the stairs of the porch. My face twisted in disgust as I turned back to Mel.

He laughed when he noticed my facial expression before he spoke again, "I'll see you later?"

"Later and I want to meet your girl to." I said smiling.

"Just hit me up, I gotchu." He said chuckling as he slid back into his car.

I nodded and gave him a small wave. I turned around and made my way into the house not before passing August but I kept my head down the whole time. I was still embarrassed from the fat joke Rae made from earlier.

Walking into the house I saw Rae in the kitchen looking through the cabinets. I didn't want to talk to her, or even hear the sorry ass apology she was going to come up for about earlier, but it was my turn to cook.

Walking into the kitchen I kept my face blank and moved around her for the things I needed.

"So where'd you go earlier?" She asked as she leaned up against the counter.
I ignored her and walked over to fridge to grab some butter for the rice I was going to make.

"You just gonna ignore me?" She asked crossing her arms over her chest.

Again I didn't answer, instead I turned on the stove and walked over to the sink where the chicken had been defrosting.

"Jazmine..come on I'm sorry about earlier, I was just in the moment and you know I was only-"

"Kidding right?" I cut her off as I cleaned the chicken. "Well I'm tired of you always kidding when it comes to my insecurities." I said honestly.

"Look I really am sorry, but you kind of started it. You shouldn't have thrown that pillow if you ain't wanna hear us kissin' shoulda went to the back." She said simply.

I grit my teeth together and pushed my glasses up on my face. "Okay." I said.
I didn't want to argue with her or say something I would regret.

"I saw you get out of Augusts brothers car, what yall do? He's like 19."

I scoffed she had a lot of nerve. I had half the mind to tell her thot ass that all we did is chill and not everybody is trying to fuck the closest thing with a dick, but I kept my mouth shut.

After awhile Rae gave up and stomped her way into the living room to throw herself on the couch dramatically and grumble under her breath about how I was 'too sensitive'.

I finished cooking soon after and made my auntie a plate before heading to the back to get ready for bed.

I changed into my pajamas and fell asleep....

The days of the summer seemed to blend together, eventually though I forgave Rae and started talking to her again. I hung out with Melvin whenever I could because he was so busy with 'work'; he never told me what he did but I had a clue and I figured August did it too. I finished November blues and moved on to the Bulfurd series. The books were about teens in high school and they all connected in a weird way. I made my aunt buy me a couple so when I finished one I wouldn't have to go out for another.
I was sitting in the living room when a heavy knock interrupted right when one of the main girls in the book was about to get raped until her father saved her.

I got up and opened the door as the person continued to knock.

"Hey, you busy?" Melvin said leaning against the doorway.

"I was just reading, come in." I opened the door wider and walked back over to the couch I was sitting on.

"I want you to meet my girl today, she ain't busy and she wants to meet you so get ready." He said sitting on one of the couches.

I nodded and walked to the back to shower and get dressed, after I was finished I saw him about to light a blunt.

Quickly I snatched it out of his hands. "Are you stupid you can't smoke in here." I said looking at him like he was crazy.

"Chill J, it was just a blunt." He said using the nickname he made up for me.

I shook my head but still held onto the blunt. "Come on let's go."

Just as we were about to leave the house Rae walked out of the back.

"Hey Mel, August wit you?" She asked.

She left little to the imagination with her sports bra that was a little to tight and too small, along cootchie cuttin shorts.

"Nah he had to take care of some business." He said.

"Oh that's to bad." She leaned forward over the couch causing her boobs to spill out. "Well you could chill here with us." She said biting her bottom lip and feigning innocence.

"No sorry we already have plans, come on Melvin." I said quickly then grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the house.

"What was that all about?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

"She was trying to...nothing, let's just go." I mumbled under my breath.

I couldn't understand why my cousin was like that. August was a good guy and he loved, she didn't realize how many girls would kill for that? Why couldn't she just be satisfied with one guy.

Okay thank you for reading guys next chapter is going to be a little hectic, in going to skip to next summer because that's when all the drama begins.
But what do you guys think of Rae ? Like her? Hate her?
