Five years of training, so long did it take for Katie to get to a place Azriel was comfortable on sending her out on the first mission. Most of them were on the continent, where she was unknown. Back in Prythian she was known to the other courts, but as the shifter that left The Spring Court. But Kaite knew that the other Lords guessed what she did there. Those first five years were not just for her training, it was for her to come back mentaly to. To come back to the point where she stopped trembling when someone raised their voices. To handle the nightmares from the cell, to learn how to eat, even when things get stressful.
But Katie learned how to handle it, learned how to live a life that was a life. Her missions to the continent often gave her new creatures to study. Colourful birds, exotic creatures from the southern part of the continent. And in Velaris, to handle the delicate dynamic of being one of the spies, and Galads mate. Some missions were deemed too dangerous for her, to Galads relife.
He never told her what to or not to do. They always talked about her missions, and he said what he thought about them. But never told her not to go for his sake. Only once had he asked Azriel not to send her on one, one that would have ended in her being forced to meet Tamlin again.
The High Lord Still held his borders closed, no one entered or left. No news of what happened within the Spring Courts borders ever reached Katies ears. But she knew that the others knew something of what happens in Spring. But she never asked for it, nor did she feel the need to know. No, Kaite was happy with not knowing, even if the knowledge of Tamlin being there haunted her. The worst nightmares were those that took her back to the cell, or her room, unable to move due to the solid air under her fingers.
Her brother trained with them, in Summer and Night. Learning about politics, traditions, and his powers. They were Greater than Katies, his skill in air manipulation bigger, and his shapeshifting more advanced. He had it easier with bigger forms. Like the great eagle, or sizing up the other forms. He could also do partial shifts. Something Katie never really masters beyond her senses. The two twins made sure to meet as often as they could. A family Kaite for so long had wished for.
And time moved on, And even with all her progres, all of her new found life and freedom. One thing held her back. Making her not fully rely on the mating bond. Making her scared for the future. The day Caspan would take over the Spring Court. And What she would do then. When that threat was gone... What would she do then? For 70 years she wonderd, feard, and dreaded that moment.
Untill it came...
