Evelyn laid on her bed in her assigned room as she played with a knife, spinning it around. She couldn't sleep as she was worried about Clint and realizing it was early dawn, she got up with a sigh and got out of her suit to change into a pair of black leggings and a sports bra. Braiding her hair, she threw on a sweatshirt before getting out of her room with the knife she was playing with.
"Agent Hill."
"Agent Townsend."
Even though Evelyn would consider Maria Hill a friend, she knew the woman was strictly business and formal at work. She never heard her call her by her first name when they were clocked in.
"Care to join me to blow off some steam?" Evelyn offered seeing how tense she stood.
"I would love to." Maria replied. "But I'm needed at the bridge. Some other time?"
"Tell me when and where."
Evelyn gave her a curt nod and walked off. She took off her sweatshirt and carefully wrapped her hands before assaulting the punching bag hanging in front of her. She had always been one of those punch until you feel better kind of a person. She didn't know for how long she was there when she heard Natasha speaking in her earpiece.
"Loki means to unleash the Hulk." Natasha stated. "Keep Banner in the lab, I'm on my way. Send Thor as well. Evelyn, do you copy?"
"On my way." Evelyn breathed out, wiping her face with a towel and throwing on her sweatshirt.
"Loki's manipulating you." She heard Natasha's voice as she entered the lab, seeing the rest of them were already there along with Fury.
Her eyes caught sight of a Hydra weapon standing on a table in front of Steve and she shot a puzzled look at him. Steve nodded towards Fury once and looked ahead with an unreadable look.
"And you've been doing what exactly?" Bruce scoffed walking away from Natasha.
"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you."
"Yes and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy." Bruce held the screen and turned it towards them. "I'd like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction."
Evelyn frowned seeing something called Phase 2 on the screen with blueprints of some sort of weapons. Steve noted the look of confusion on her face.
"What the hell?" Evelyn mumbled inspecting the screen closer.
"Because of him." Fury replied pointing at Thor.
"Me?" The Asgardian furrowed his eyebrows.
"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town." He replied looking at Bruce. "We learned that not only we are not alone but we are hopelessly, hilariously, out-gunned."
"My people want nothing but peace with your planet." Thor replied, shaking his head.
"But you're not the only people out there, are you? And you're not the only threat." Fury stated, his eyes briefly flashing to Evelyn. "The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled."
"Like you controlled the Cube?" Steve asked with a scoff.
"Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it and his allies." Thor took couple steps towards them. "It is the signal to all the realms that earth is ready for a higher form of war."
"A higher form?" Steve asked taken aback as Evelyn shook her head, rubbing her temples from the sudden headache.
"You forced our hand!" Fury raised his voice. "We had to come up with some-"
