"Be careful." Laura warned as Natasha leaned over the kitchen counter. "They're hot."
"That won't stop her." Evelyn mumbled, taking a big sip from the bourbon in her hands.
"You two want to talk?" Laura asked the two friends who seemed too shaken up for their usual selves.
"I'd rather forget." Evelyn shrugged, rubbing her temples. "And drink."
"I came onto Bruce..." Natasha mumbled, the two almost not hearing her.
"You did what?" Evelyn asked with wide eyes, not expecting Natasha to make a move, yet. "When?"
"In the room." Natasha shyly smiled, looking at the cookie in her hands.
"My girls..." Laura sighed, wiping under her eyes with a laugh. "All grown up."
"Hey, I'm older than you." Evelyn shot back making the woman laugh more. "Did you really put Bruce and Nat in the same room?"
"What can I say? I love playing matchmaker." Laura shrugged, pulling out another tray of cookies from the oven. "You'll love who I paired you up with."
"Laura." Evelyn warned, not liking the grin on her face. "What did you do?"
"Oh, come on." Laura gently hit her with the kitchen towel. "I see how you two look at each other."
"Like two normal friends?" Evelyn suggested making the woman laugh out loud.
"Friends who kissed." Natasha butted in, Laura gasping in surprise.
"That was different and hey!" Evelyn exclaimed narrowing her eyes at her friend. "We kissed too, what's your point?"
"That was different." Natasha shot back. "You're seriously saying you're not basically undressing him with your eyes?"
"Nat!" Evelyn gasped, not being able to stop the blush appearing on her cheeks. "I was just looking out the window."
"Uh huh." Natasha mumbled getting up from the stool. "It's all yours Laura."
"Seems like it's getting heated out there." Laura commented looking out the window where Tony and Steve looked like they were arguing. "Let's go."
"You go, I'll- Laura!" Evelyn exclaimed as the woman grabbed her arm, pulling her out the door with her, Evelyn not having time to put down her glass.
"Every time someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die." Steve told Tony with a glare. "Every time." "I'm sorry. Mr. Stark, uh, Clint said you wouldn't mind." Laura spoke up, still holding Evelyn's arm. "But, our tractor, it doesn't seem to want to start at all. I thought maybe you might..."
"Yeah, I'll give her a kick." Tony put down his axe and looked back at the barn. "Don't take from my pile."
"Evelyn." Steve called out when Evelyn made a move towards the house. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah." Evelyn breathed out taking a sip from her bourbon which Steve eyed with a raised eyebrow. "What?"
"Told you I'd win the bet." Steve shot her an amused smile making her snigger. She was glad he didn't talk about what happened and instead kept the conversation light.
"Shit." Evelyn cursed making Steve chuckle. "I really wanted to watch your show again."
"Well, maybe just maybe..." Steve shook his head with a small smile. "I may be tempted to give you one when this is all over."
"You wouldn't." Evelyn scoffed with wide eyes but Steve playfully shrugged, going back to chopping up wood for Clint. "Are you serious?"
"Anything to make you smile." Steve blurted out without thinking and Evelyn felt heat rush to her face.
