Early Morning (RB)

Rob is a single dad with a six month old daughter. He takes her to a convention in Rome. And instead of going out drinking in the evening with his cast mates, like he usually does, he goes back to his hotel room with her. She wakes him up at an ungodly hour of the morning and they end up going for a walk

It's well later into the night. Rob and Rich still aren't in their hotel rooms. Rich is making sure everything's ready for tomorrow while Rob is lying on the floor of the green room, propped up against the beanbag. Somehow, Maisie is still full of energy, so he's been playing with her. However, he closed his eyes for a second. Soon enough, he feels a tiny hand tug on his shirt. He smiles before opening his eyes to look at his baby girl. Who had crawled up to him. He chuckles tiredly "Hi, gorgeous". He picks her up, then holds her up above himself so he can kiss her cheek. She babbles happily as he then props his legs up. He sits her on his torso, gently keeping a hold of her with one hand. He smiles slightly "How are you still awake, hm? Tell me, cause I'm fading fast. That might be your doing though". She babbles again and he nods "Yeah, sure. You make a valid point. But you know I have to sleep at some point too". She hiccups, making him chuckle "Another solid argument. However, I think I'm entitled". Her hand scrunches up the material of his shirt. "Because I'm your daddy, that's why" He smiles, gently tickling her stomach.

For the first time, she giggles just as Rich walks in. He chuckles "The guys won't be happy when they find out you got her to laugh first". Rob grins, shrugging before kissing her tiny hand. Rich sits on the couch, putting his arm on the armrest as he watches the interaction. "Are you going out with us tonight?" Rich asks him. "Who's us?" He questions. "Me, Jensen, Matt, Jason, Misha, Adam and I think Kim, Bri and Ruth are joining us" He replies. Rob shakes his head "Nah, I can't. I need to stay here with Maisie".

Later that night

It's the early hours of the morning and Maisie woke up crying. He sighs as he lifts her out of the crib, then sits her on his hip "Morning, gorgeous. Do you really think this is a reasonable time to get up?". He starts to walk around with her a little, then opens the curtains. It's still dark, but the sky is starting to lighten up a bit. Once she has calmed down, he walks back over to the bed and sits against the headboard, sitting her in his lap. She babbles as she grabs his thumb and he smiles, letting her play with his hand. He rubs his other thumb over her soft cheek and sighs quietly "I love you so much, Maisie". She stares at him with her big blue eyes and he purses his lips. "I love you too, daddy" He says in a baby voice, then kisses her cheek. She giggles in response. He soon gets her to lie on his stomach, then puts his arm around her so she doesn't fall. She babbles and he hums, nodding "Mhm, yeah. I know, it's crazy". He chuckles to himself, then sighs "Mais, I think I might need help".

After a few minutes, Maisie started to fuss again and he sighs "Okay, come on. We're going for a walk". He picks her up, then gets off the bed. He gets a pacifier and sticks it in her mouth and puts a spare one in his pocket. He sighs, sitting her on his hip "Whoever thought I'd be doing this at two in the morning? In Rome of all places". He smiles as she babbles, but now that she has a pacifier in her mouth, it's muffled. "Come on" He chuckles before carrying her out of the room.

When he exits the main doors of the hotel, Rob starts to walk down the street. It's a really nice town for the convention. There's lots of shops, cafés, restaurants, bars and they are all on one side. But on the other side of the road in between, is the ocean. The convention centre is almost right next to the pier and the hotel is across the road from there. It's quiet and peaceful. And even thought it's two in the morning, it isn't too dark. The streetlights are on and the sky is beginning to lighten up due to it being Summer and all. That's why he could go out in a t-shirt and shorts. Maisie is wearing her pyjamas, but that's not the point. Rob crosses the road, still carrying Maisie. He smiles slightly as she babbles. "Alright, Mais. Where do you wanna go? Which direction?" He asks her. He turns himself around, allowing her to see the different directions as he holds her up a little higher on his hip. She just looks up at him. He chuckles "You are useless. Come on, let's go this way". He starts to walk in the direction of the pier. It's not really a proper beach. There's more rock than sand, but it'll do. He puts her down. She can't stand on her own very well, but she is learning to balance herself rather quickly. She needs someone to hold her hand, though.

She clings to his leg and he chuckles softly as he kneels down beside her. He sits on the ground and she looks back at him and babbles. He smiles "Aw, it's okay, gorgeous. I'm still here". He gets her to sit in his lap, then gently puts his arms around her.

He kisses the top of her head and smiles slightly "I love you so much, Maisie".
