Callan is a young actress on spn and is really close with all the cast members. She suffers from Hypoglycaemia and needs a medical assistant dog. It's his job to let her know when her blood sugars are too low and it gets dangerous when they are too low.
Her character's name is Maia and her dog's name is Alfie.
________"So, our next panel guest is a wonderful young lady. She's smart, talented and downright hilarious. It's her first ever panel, so be gentle. It's Crowley's daughter herself. Callan Mackie, ladies and gentlemen!" Rich introduces me and Rob starts to sing my intro song. Which I'd never heard before now. I look down at Alfie, who is by my side as usual, wearing his vest. "Stay here, Alf" I whisper. He whines and I chuckle "I'll be fine, stay". I step up the stairs of the stage and walk on. The audience cheers.
Just a small town girl,
Livin' in a lonely world.
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere.A singer in a smoky room,
A smell of wine and cheap perfume.
For a smile they can share the night,
It goes on and on and on and onI smile and wave before heading over to the boys just as Rob finishes singing. I smile "Hey, guys". Rich chuckles "Before we leave, let me tell you a little something about this one. We asked what she wanted as her intro song. Her immediate response? Don't Stop Believin' by Journey". "Instant win" Rob comments. I shrug "What? I like that song". They both smile and Rich playfully ruffles my hair "Okay, we'll leave now. Have fun". I chuckle, giving Rob a hug as the band leaves the stage. I turn to the audience "Hi, woah. There's a lot of people in here". The audience cheers and I smile "Well, does everyone like Maia?". They cheer again and I smile "Good, I do too. So, questions?".
I hum "What side to start on". I hear some people chuckle. I go to the left side first "Hi". The girl smiles "Hi, I was just wondering what your first meeting with the boys was like". I chuckle "Funny story. I… well, my first day on set, my first scene was with Mark Sheppard, Mark Pellegrino and Ruth Connell. They were all really lovely to be around. Ruth and I bonded through our Scottish-ness". That got a laugh. I chuckle "So, although I didn't meet J2M first, I knew they were around but I didn't meet them until later on. With Jared and Jensen, it was kinda normal. But, like they're just so freaking tall!". The audience laughs again. I shake my head "Seriously, I'm 5,3 ish. Jensen is okay, he's slightly shorter, as you know. He's still a lot taller than me though. But Jared's height is just… well, it's disrespectful is what it is". Another laugh. I smile "My meeting with them was pretty normal. They welcomed me and made me feel really comfortable around them. And from that day, it all changed. However, my first meeting with Misha is something that no one would believe if there was no evidence. And there is no proof that it happened, but you guys want to hear it?". I get a positive response.
I sigh "So… this was about five or six years ago. When I first got cast in the show, I was nine. And on sets, kids can only have a certain amount of hours they can work for. I was on my break, so to speak. Um… my mum was there with me and I can't remember what we were doing. We went for a walk, I think. And this is something I'll never forget for the rest of my life. We were walking in between all the trailers. Someone ran past us, with a BB gun and black face paint on his face. And he was running away from Jared and Jensen. That's not even the best part. The best part was that he was wearing his Cas outfit. He picked me up and stole me from my mum. I still have no idea why, but it was one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life. That man was Misha Collins, my dudes". The audience laughs and cheers.
After a few questions, I decide to sit down on the floor of the stage. "I'm just going to sit here. Wow, this is so much better. Hi" I giggle, now that I'm more level with the crowd. A few people chuckle and I turn my attention to the right side. I smile "Hey, what's your question?". "Hi, I was wondering. You mentioned before that you were nine when you were first cast. So, you must still be in school. How does that affect your school life?" She asks. I nod "Thanks, that's a good question. Yeah, I'm fifteen. I still go to a normal school. Being in spn hasn't changed that. But luckily my teachers are really understanding and supportive. I have this system where I go to school on the days that I'm not working. So, that's usually Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays unless something changes in my work schedule. I'm supposed to be in school right now, but I'm working" I joke. The audience laughs. "So, when I'm on set, I have to do school work too. In between shooting, I'll use up my breaks to do work that my teachers send me online. Usually, I'll sit at the side while they set up the next scene. Or Jensen will let me use his trailer if I can't concentrate. But I'm almost always in my costume, so it's pretty fun" I explain. I nod to the girl "Thanks".
Another few questions go by and the band comes back out, signalling that my time is almost up. But I still have one last question. Staying where I am, I spin around to face what I assume is my last question. "Hey" I smile. "Hi, my question is less of a question. More of a general wondering. So, a few of us have noticed that you have a dog, which wears a vest. If you don't mind me asking about that" She says. I nod "No, not at all. I don't mind. I guess he's not exactly invisible. So… his name is Alfie. He's actually backstage right now. And he is my medical assistance dog. When I was around five, I was in and out of hospital. My mum and dad didn't know what was wrong with me. I didn't know and the doctors didn't either. I had these really bad headaches. Like, no five year old gets those kinds of headaches. The doctors thought it was just migraines at first. But it kept getting worse as the weeks went by. And with each day came a new wave of dizziness. That went on for the next few months. Then came early autumn, or fall as you guys would call it and I fainted. I was taken to hospital again and I didn't wake up for a whole week. I found out later in life that if I wasn't taken to the hospital in time, I probably would've died. And so… that whole monologue leads to this condition that I have called Hypoglycaemia. Which is basically a form of diabetes. Alfie lets me know when my blood sugar is too low. I take him everywhere with me. School, the set, conventions, etc. So, yeah. Thanks for making my mum cry backstage". The girl giggles when I smile. I wave bye to her before turning to the guys. "Hey, Cal. How's your first panel?" Rich asks. I shrug "It's fun. I like these people". R2 chuckle at my response. I then stand up "I think I'm gonna start sitting on the floor during panels. It's a lot more fun. Robbie, you should play my outro on the floor". He shrugs "Challenge accepted". Him and the band sit on the floor with their instruments, making me smile. Rich chuckles "Alright, give it up for Callan, everybody!". I grin as he gives me a high five. Rob starts singing my outro. I giggle "Don't worry, Robbie. You'll get used to it". He smiles, shaking his head as he sings. I give the peace out sign before disappearing backstage. Alfie stands up and I ruffle his ear a little after handing my mic to someone. I meet my mum and she smiles at me. "How was that?" I ask. She chuckles "You were great. Come on, they're waiting in the green room for you".
Alfie walks along beside me and out of habit, I hold on to the handle on his vest. We make our way to the green room and go in. Jared, Jensen, Misha, Mark S, Felicia, Ruth, Kim, Briana, Rachel, Alex, Kathryn and two of three of my brothers are already in there. I sit on the sofa beside Jensen and get Alfie to sit on the floor in between my legs. "Hey, Cal. How was your panel?" He asks. I smile "Good, not as scary as I thought it would be". Jared and Misha, who are sitting across from us, chuckle lightly. "Well, that's good" Misha replies. I run my fingers through Alfie's soft fur. I reach down to unclip his vest from the front, then unstrap the bit that goes under his belly. As soon as I take it off him, he tilts his head back to look at me, making me giggle. He softly licks my hand before lying down at my feet. When I take his vest off, it means he can rest. "That dog still continues to amaze me" Jared speaks up. I smile slightly, nodding "Yeah, I think he forgets how to be a dog sometimes". The three guys laugh and that's when R2 come in with the band. "Cal, you were awesome out there" Rich tells me. I chuckle "Well, at least I looked it". He smiles "Would you like to do more?". I nod "Yeah, Robbie needs to practice playing on the floor". That gets a chuckle from those around me. "Okay, well Kim, Ruth and Briana have a panel tomorrow, you could join them. Or Rob and I have one tomorrow as well. Or Jensen and Misha have one later today" He offers. I hum, then smile "Can I do all three?". He raises his eyebrows "If you think you can, then sure. But it's up to your mom". I turn to look at her "Please?". She chuckles "Yes, just as long as you are careful". I smile "I will be". Rich nods "Okay, done".
