“I’m not sure about that, Olly,” Adrian sigh, when I told him what I plan to do. He decided to visit me today just to check up on me. He’s been visiting me at least once or twice a week depending on his schedule. “In case you’ve forgot, the media and everyone else thought you are dead. Imagine what kind of setback—rumor, this would be to the company.”

I flinched when he said the words ‘in case you’ve forgot’. That expression is something that I can relate to, since I literally forgot my memories. “I must at least do something, Addy. Don’t tell me you’ll just let those who tried to murder me get away with it?”

I know my plan was absurd but just the thought that those who tried to kill me are walking free while I have to deal with the consequence. I’m tired of hiding. This past few months with had been a bliss but things like this…they come with a price. I can’t hide or rely on Timothy all the time. I have to at least try to fight and discover myself again and staying in my safe haven won’t bring my memories back. But, mostly, I want to know who wanted to kill me. Do they even feel any type of remorse for trying to murder me?

I watch him rub his fingers on his temple. “I’m also doing my best to find them, Olly but I’m always brought to a dead end. Whoever hired them, was some one with power and wealth. There are no leads and it’s almost a year and I can’t find any proof that Henry or Ivan was behind all this.”

“What makes you think that they are the people behind this?”

“They are only people I know who wanted the company or the money that is under our name and will do anything to have it.”

“But…”

“When Mom suddenly married Henry few months after Dad died. As a child I never think twice about it but looking at it now, it was weird. Especially, their marriage contract. Mom was wise enough to place all her assets under our name. Mom knew then that Henry was up to something.”

I frown with the new information that he gave to me. I curse myself for forgetting something so vital. “Their marriage contract?”

He nods. “You were the one who noticed it when you decided to clean the study. You found it folded in a book… I can’t remember the name of the book, but you knew the author. I think it was Stephen or Dan something.”

“Stephen King? Dan Brown?”

“Dan Brown!” He snapped his fingers, when he finally remembered the name. “It was hidden in one of his books, don’t know the tittle though. Anyway, you saw something on the certificate, and it made you uncomfortable.”

“Do you have the certificate?”

He shook his head no. “You kept the certificate somewhere. I tried looking for it when you…”

Adrian trailed off but I know he was supposed to say die.  I frown curious about the marriage certificate. What was in it that made me think twice about it? Again, something important that I forgot. I snapped back in attention when Adrian called my name.

“Olly!” He frowned when I didn’t answer. “Are you okay?”

“Oh! Yeah,” I cleared my throat. “What were you saying?”

“You don’t happen to remember where you kept it don’t you?”

I stare at him. “No. I don’t remember.”

He nods in understanding. “I just have to ask. You said that the name of the judge or the witnesses on the certificate were weird. So, you decided to ask for my help in that matter. We searched for those names and found out that one of names written on the certificate was already dead for 30 years.”
