School ended and Chriss and I were on the route to the 'JamHouse', making sure no one saw us.

As we neared it, Chriss spoke up.

"Have you found 'The One'?"

"Not really," I huffed. "I wasn't even thinking about that, guy. Like, my mind is clouded up with stuff like this and stuff like that, and-I looked at my watch-it's less than 4 hours from the Ball! It's just, I don't know" I vented out.

We were about 10 paces away from the JamHouse. No one had seen us so far.

"Look, if it's really bothering you, you should go and ask one of them out, probably the first one you see. Could go right or wrong." Chriss advised me.

"That's a very bad idea!" I said unenthusiastically, "but I don't have any ideas so..."

I did a 180° and started going the other way.

"I'll see you later."

Chriss then waved me bye, "Alright [redacted], I'll set the stuff up."

-----------------------------------------------------

I left Chriss and went back into the actual school premises. I was going to follow Chriss' idea; Ask the first one I saw, out to the Ball.
What an idea! I sarcastically thought as I entered Will Anderson High School.

The hallways were empty because everyone had gone home. Instead, they were being decorated by the seniors who had stayed back. The theme was, I don't know, star-related. I don't remember, I think it was 'An Astronomical Event' or something.

Anyways,

I entered the school and I basically searched the whole school till I found either one of them.

Most of the school was empty and the rooms with people, didn't have any of them. It just made my job harder.
It wasn't a good idea to start with anyways.

I concluded that none of them were in the school and so I made my way out the school.

Spanish class was by my left on the way out, so being the obnoxious guy I am, I poked my head inside the room.

Guess who I found?

"Aubrey???" I exclaimed.

"Oh, hey Zach! Why brings you around here, it starts at 6.00 pm, right-She checked her watch-it's just past 4?"

"Well," I scratched the back of my head. "Nothing much, why are you here?"

"I'm helping with the decorations." Aubrey spoke plainly.

"In Spanish class?"

"Ohh, that" She trailed off. "Mrs Hernandez took my ring, so I was trying to... borrow it back?"

I just let out an 'mm hmm'. It was time for the question.

"Anyways... Are you going to the Ball?"

She chuckled, "Of course, I am! Aren't you?"

"I am. I'm performing too, the band called in sick."

"Oh really?"

"Yes, back to my question, are you going with someone?"

"No, not actually."

This is the opportunity, I needed

"Could I be your date to the Ball?"

Damn, that was cringe

"Yeah sure," Aubrey responded, "I'm going home to change for it, so tell of the other guys, I've gone"
