"Are you awake?"

Ju Xin heard the question as soon as he opened his eyes. Was Wen Lan watching him? Wait, was he still alive?! He jumped into a sitting position, checking his face and arms.

"You are fine, no need to check," Wen Lan assured him. He was sitting on the pillow, his back against the wall... for the whole day. After he brought Ju Xin back, he examined him again to be sure he was fine, then he sat in his current position, watching him sleeping.

"How?" Ju Xin asked Wen Lan with great confusion. He was infected for sure, so he must have been dead.

"Lotus flower water," the Ghost King lied easily with a smirk.

The deity's eyes widened with shock, "where did you find it though?"

"It fell from the sky," Wen Lan was having so much fun, "Heaven wanted to save you I guess." As if they would care...

If Wen Lan wasn't his saviour, Ju Xin would definitely roll his eyes in the face of his sarcastic answer. As he couldn't do that, he decided not to ask further, so rather said, "I am so sorry to involve you, you even had to take care of me, what a disgrace."

"You saved my life, so we are even," Wen Lan said resolutely as he didn't want to dwell on the topic anymore.

Ju Xin smiled shyly and stood up, "then, let's drop the topic and go to the village to check."

"I am sure they are doing fine, you should rest more," the Ghost King said nonchalantly, but stood up anyway. The deity also noticed his contradictory behaviour, but before he could say anything, there was a knock on the door. The duo exchanged a glance before Wen Lan opened the door.

It was the head of the village who came. Seeing Wen Lan in front of him, the poor man got pale and took a step back, then he stammered, "C-Can I... talk to Yi Xin?"

"Why?" Wen Lan had no intention to move as he found the man a bit suspicious. However, Ju Xin didn't share his thoughts, he patted Wen Lan's shoulder and went out.

"What's wrong?" he asked with concern after the village head dragged him away from Wen Lan.

"The problem is him," the man gestured at Wen Lan who was still standing in front of the door. "He needs to go."

Ju Xin was flabbergasted, "why? He didn't do anything wrong," he said with a low shaky voice.

The elderly man opened his eyes wide, "he didn't do anything wrong? After he came, the evil beings haunted our village. Three men died, Yi Xin!"

"And how can you be so sure it is because of Wen Lan?" Ju Xin stood on his ground. There was fire in his eyes and tension on his shoulders.

"Look at his eyes! They are blue!" the village head also started to get angry. How come Yi Xin could be that naive?

Ju Xin puffed, "what kind of logic is that? Just because his eyes are blue, does he have to be malicious?"

"They were right, you won't listen to logic, you are already under his magic!" the agitated man yelled at Ju Xin before leaving.

"They blame me for what happened, right?" Wen Lan suddenly appeared behind Ju Xin, scaring him. He already heard everything, but he was still in shock, seeing Ju Xin defended him wholeheartedly. It was very like their first life...

"Don't take it to heart, just an old guy with a superstitious mind," Ju Xin said apologetically with a smile.

"Do you want me to go?" Wen Lan asked seriously while staring at his almond eyes.
