Tommy's POV- 2 am
***
I sit up in bed, panting heavily as the nightmare I just had slowly fades out of my memory. I hold a hand over my heart and sigh when I check the time on my phone. It's two in the morning.
I slowly start to calm down and look around the room. The pile of fresh laundry on my chair looks like one of the men Tabitha and I got taken in by once. He was a big muscular man with a short temper. I had my fair share of things thrown at me while living there. He was scary and just plain mean.
I feel my heartbeat start up again at the thought of him. I try to distract myself, but it's too late. Sweat pours out of my back, neck and arms. It's a cold sweat and when I press a hand to my back I feel damp cloth.
I blink back the warm tears and tell myself to suck it up. There are kids going through way worse right now.
I get out of bed and walk to my closet. I pull my sweaty shirt over my head and toss it in the laundry hamper in the corner of the room. I then grab a clean blue shirt and shrug it on, ignoring the knocking happening on my door.
When I turn around, I see Tabitha stood in the doorway of my bedroom. I'm about to ask her why she's up at this hour, but when I see the trembling of her fingers and legs, I immediately know what's happening.
"You okay, Tabs?"
She shakes her head no and I sigh, waving her over. Tabitha and I often have nightmares frequently. It's rare that we have one at the same time though.
Tabitha and I curl up together in my bed. The sheets are big enough for two and we fall asleep in each other's comfort.

I wake to the sound of my creaking door. I crack an eye open to lazily investigate and sit upright when I see Techno stood in the doorway. He's dressed for college and looks right at me, not uttering a single word.
I look towards my bedroom window and blink at the sudden morning light. What time is it?
"Did something happen?" Techno finally speaks.
"Just..." I pause, thinking of how to phrase last night. "A bad night"
Techno nods and leaves the doorway. I breathe a sigh of relief and look next to me. Tabitha is still fast asleep.

Phil's POV
***
I pour myself a mug of coffee and wave as Wilbur, Tubbo and Techno walk out the front door. Techno advised me that the twins weren't feeling well so I made a note to go see them after clearing the kitchen.
I throw the sponge in the sink when I'm done with it and wipe my wet hands on my black jeans. I then finish my cup of coffee before heading upstairs to talk to the twins.
***
I gently knock on Tabitha's bedroom door, thinking she's asleep when there's no answer. I open the door a crack and peek in.
Tabitha's room is dark and her bed is messed up and empty. I look around the room, but can't see her anywhere. The bathroom light is off and the room is deadly quiet. Where has she gone?
I sigh and move up to Tommy's room. I knock on the door and wait for an answer.
"Come in!"
I open the door and step into the room. Tommy's room is lighter, but the curtains are shut and the lights are off. Tommy and Tabitha sit there together, their sleepless faces exhibiting signs of anxiety and discomfort.
"I heard you two weren't feeling too great," I say, walking towards the bed.
Tommy moves over and I sit in between the twins. They don't talk and I frown at Tommy's anxious state. He's usually so put together and has never shown any signs of struggling with mental health.
"Can you tell me what happened?" I ask softly, looking at both of the kids. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Tabitha shakes her head while Tommy nods. The twins share a look and I can see Tommy urging Tabitha to speak.
"I want you guys to feel comfortable here, okay? Tabitha, if you don't want to talk, that's fine"
"Thanks," she mumbles. "I'll go to my room now"
Tommy and I watch as Tabitha leaves, her long blonde hair fluttering behind her. I turn back to Tommy and put an arm around him.
"What happened then?"
Tommy starts talking. As he talks, I can feel him start to shake again and I feel my blood start to boil at the thought of his and Tabitha's previous foster homes. These people sound awful and hearing Tommy's voice tremble makes my heart ache for the poor boy.
"Tabitha also had a nightmare," Tommy says, looking down at the floor. "I think she's okay, but they hit quite hard"
"I can imagine," I reply, rubbing the boy's back. "Don't worry about it, Tommy. You're here now, okay? You're safe and I promise no one can hurt you here"
Tommy puts his arms around me and the feeling of surprise strikes me. He mumbles a thank you and I chuckle, hugging him back.
"Do you feel a little better?" I ask.
"Heaps better," Tommy replies. "Thanks, Phil"
"No worries, kid"
***
I walk down the hall to Tabitha's room and stop, hesitating before knocking. I know she doesn't want to talk, but I am worried about both her and Tommy. What they went through was awful and I want them to be able to speak to me without being scared.
"Tabs?" I say softly, opening the door.
Tabitha's lying on the bed, her hands in her face as her shoulders shake. Her soft cries make my heart ache and I walk over to her bed.
"Tabby, can you sit up and look at me, please? I think we really should talk about this"
"I don't want to," Tabitha sniffs, turning away from me.
"Don't be afraid to be vulnerable with me, love. I'm not going to hurt you, okay? Just, please trust me. I talked to Tommy and he felt so much better getting it off his chest. Wouldn't you?"
Tabitha stops crying and wipes her eyes with her sleeve. She looks tired and worn out.
"Can we talk later? I just kinda wanna sleep now"
I chuckle, shaking my head.
"Sure. Sleep well"
