Tabitha's POV

***

"Tommy, don't burn Tubbo!" Phil yells from the screen door.

"Aw, why not?" Tommy yells back. "It's content!"

"Tommy, no!"

Tommy pouts and sighs. Phil goes back inside and I sit on the fallen log we use as a bench next to Tubbo.

"Tabitha, don't let me be sacrificed, please," Tubbo says, making Tommy and I laugh. "I want to keep living"

I laugh and shake my head.

"Fuck me, I'm hungry," Tommy sighs, grabbing a stick from the ground. "Let's toast some marshmallows"

"Wait for everyone else, you pig," I laugh, smacking the back of Tommy's head.

Phil, Techno and Will exit the back door carrying food. I see a pitcher of lemonade in Will's hand, grilled sausages and chicken in Phil's hands and Techno trails behind, his headphones on.

"Right, who's hungry?" Phil says, setting the food down.

"Me!" Tubbo, Tommy and I chorus.

"The crow father fulfils his duties once again!" Will says, making reference to the Origin SMP.

"You little shit," Phil chuckles, shaking his head as he sits next to Tubbo. "I can't believe I got stuck with that name"

"It suits you though," I laugh, taking the marshmallow from Tommy's hands and putting it in my mouth.

"Hey!" he exclaims. "That was mine!"

"Then that's too bad," I reply, licking my fingers.

"Hey, Will?" Tubbo says, looking up at his older brother adoringly.

"What is it now?" Will asks, rolling his eyes.

"Can you go get your guitar and play us a song? It wouldn't be a Watson family bonfire without a Wilbur Soot song"

Will rolls his eyes and mutters something under his breath but stands up and goes inside to retrieve his musical instrument.

"Yay, we're getting a song!" Tubbo cheers, clapping softly. "I'm excited"

"Me too," I admit, stealing another one of Tommy's marshmallows. "I want to hear his new stuff in person rather than his bedroom walls"

"Oh, yeah, he's proper loud, isn't he?" Tommy says with a frown. "Tabitha, if you don't stop eating my food I will respectfully feed you mud"

"Shut it, gremlin boy," I smile, hiding behind Phil. "Fix your posture and then we can talk"

"She's got a point there," Tubbo laughs.

"That-we weren't even talking about posture!"

"We are now," Phil shrugs.

I watch as Will picks his way through the grass towards us, guitar in hand. He sits next to me on the fallen log and plucks a few strings, tuning it. Everyone quiets down and Will begins to play the guitar, singing along softly. Tubbo and Tommy join in, adding chaos and wrong lyrics. I laugh at some of the lyrics, seeing Phil's eyebrows shoot up at some of the language being used.

"Where's Techno?" I ask, frowning as I look around the fire.

"He was here a second ago," Phil says, looking towards the house. "Maybe he went inside?"

I look around the garden but don't see him anywhere. I look towards the house and at his bedroom window. The lights are on, but I can't see any movement.

"Is he okay?" I ask again, feeling uneasy.

"I'm sure he's fine," Phil says, putting an arm around me. "Techno's like that sometimes, going off on his own for a bit. Don't stress it"

I nod but can't help feeling like we've done something wrong.

***

That night, I can't seem to fall asleep.

I sit up in bed and check the time with a sigh. Two am.

No one's seen Techno since seven when we had our bonfire. I know Phil said not to worry, but it's kinda hard not to when your older brother is missing.

I push my cheek into my soft pillow and sigh, breathing in the fresh laundry smell. Lately, it's been easier to fall asleep. When I talked to Tommy about it, he suggested the calmer environment had something to do with it. I have to admit, Phil's house is the epitomy of calm despite all the chaos Tommy and Tubbo cause on a daily basis.

I get out of bed and blindly make my way towards the bathroom. I switch the lights on and take a deep breath, feeling the anxiety get at me. I don't like not knowing where Techno is. He left without warning and when shit like that happens, I'm on edge.

Gotta love my abandonment issues.

"What are you doing up at this hour?"

I jump when I see Phil enter the bathroom. Again, just pops up with no warning.

"Jesus Christ, a warning would've been nice," I sigh, turning the water off.

"Sorry," Phil says quietly, a soft smile on his face. "But you should be asleep in bed like Tommy"

"Sorry," I sigh, sitting on the edge of the bathtub.

"Don't apologize," Phil chuckles, sitting next to me. "I know it's hard for you kids to close your eyes sometimes. Plus, I'm probably not the best example going to bed at three in the morning after a stream"

I laugh and nod. That is pretty true.

"So, why you up?" Phil asks, nodding at the sink. "Thirsty?"

I laugh and shake my head. "Nah, I'm just..."

I look at Phil and he crosses his arms, giving me a nod as he tells me to elaborate.

"I'm just worried about Techno, I guess"

Phil exhales and shuts his eyes, leaning back a little. I guess he's been worried too.

"Tabs, understand that Techno is a stray cat at heart. You know by now he's quiet and reserved and keeps to himself. That boy's got some deep-rooted issues and he often loves to be alone, hence why he leaves without warning sometimes"

"So you're telling me I shouldn't worry?" I mumble, picking at my nails.

"It's good to worry a little," Phil says, rubbing my back slowly. "But don't lose sleep over it, okay? Techno's been on his own ever since he was a child. Even when I adopted him, he didn't have anyone"

"That's tough," I sigh, leaning against Phil's chest slowly feeling more comfortable around him.

"Yeah, it is," Phil says, holding me close. "Which is why I want you and Tommy to be close forever. You two have each other and you two will need each other"

I nod in agreement. It's always been Tommy and I since the very start.

"Go to bed, Tabs," Phil says, patting my back. "Techno will be back tomorrow, you'll see"

"Alright, fine," I sigh. "Goodnight, Phil. Thanks for....well, this"

"That's quite alright," Phil grins. "Now go to bed"

"Will do, crowfather"

With that, I walk down the hall and stop at Tommy's door. There's no audible sound so I push the door open and see him fast asleep in bed. I've always envied Tommy for his ability to sleep so easily.

I approach the bed and slowly slip in, cuddling up to him. What Phil said is true. Tommy and I will always have each other, no matter what.

"Goodnight, Tom," I whisper. "Love you"
