Season one, Episode seven."All Valley."

[the next day]

After a long day with Liv yesterday, Charlee woke up in her room which was still pretty bare, mainly because she hadn't had the motivation to unpack any of her boxes.

As quietly as Charlee could, she got dressed for the day and made her way out of the small apartment through her window which then lead out onto the halls of the block.

Charlee's parents had bought a small apartment in Reseda, West Valley after wanting a new start from East Valley since they had made bad blood between a gang of dealers who are now after them.

Although it wasn't a very far move, the Ashley's didn't have much money, Chris and Joana Ashley would always by alcohol or drugs which would always result in passing out or taking their anger out on Charlee if she was ever around.

The teenager always tried to keep her distance, afraid that coming anywhere close to her so called parents would just mean physical and verbal abuse, so this is why Charlee would always use her window as an escape route if she needed it but the girl would now usually just keep her distance from the two not wanting any unwanted shit to go down.

This is mainly the reason Charlee started karate, so she could finally fight back and walk around her house knowing her parents are afraid of her and not the other way around. But all Charlee wanted was a normal and happy family but she knew that would never happen.

Once Charlee had made her way to the dojo there were people already inside and some just arriving, which was good because she didn't want to be late on her first day. "Charlee, over here!" Liv waved her over, with a small smile the girl walked over and Liv began to introduce her other friends to her new one, "Aisha, Hawk, Miguel this is Charlee. And Charlee this is Aisha, Hawk and Miguel." Liv pointed each of them out, "Hi." Aisha waved, "Sup." Hawk nodded his head with a small smirk and Miguel just gave a small smile since his mind was somewhere else.

Once the rest of the kids had arrived and they had all warmed up, Sensei Lawrence walked out and into the dojo beginning the lesson almost immediately. "Quiet! Fall in... Junbi! Bow. Fighting positions." Johnny called as he began to walk around the dojo looking at all of the teenagers posture.

"Stabilize you base, Hawk. Keep you r balance. Full rotation when you strike." Johnny explained after pushing Hawks leg back, "Yes, Sensei. Hai!" Hawk nodded and repeated the straight punch.

Charlee was stood behind Liv who was stood by Hawk along the front, she watched as Sensei Lawrence went to turn around and one of the boys flinched, "Did you just flinch, Virgin?" Johnny asked before moving to the boy beside him and taking a small step forward like he was about to attack and again the boy flinched.

Charlee was just hoping that Sensei Lawrence wouldn't test to see if she would flinch only because she knew for a fact that she would flinch, it's just on instinct after all she's been through. "Holy shit. We got a room full of flinchers." Lawrence gaped, "Yes, Sensei!" everyone replied.

"That was not a question! Raise your hand if you've never been punched in the face." Johnny looked around, and only Miguel and Aisha had their hands down. Charlee didn't know what else to do, what if people began to ask where she had been punched before? She couldn't tell them, she would be literally killed by her parents. So all Charlotte could do was raise her hand and all she could hope was she wouldn't have to be punched by anyone in this room.

"Put your hands down. All your lives, you've been avoiding fights, so you don't break your nose or lose a tooth. This concussion nonsense. So, there's only one solution, and that is before you leave this dojo, each and everyone one of you is gonna take a punch, very hard, to the face." Sensei explained, "Shit." Charlee cursed lightly under breath, silently wishing she never signed up for this. "Miss. Robinson, line 'em up. Unflinch this group." Johnny sighed before walking into his office and leaving all the kids in the hands of Aisha.

Looking at the floor Charlee could feel the nerves building up in her body and her hands were slowly beginning to shake all her concentration was set on the upcoming punch but that was until someone spoke up, "You seem nervous." Hawk muttered, "Well, it's my first time being punched." Charlee lied, "Same but how bad could it be?" Hawk shrugged and his question was soon answered when the boy beside Charlee was knocked to the ground and his nose began to bleed.

In shock Hawk looked from the boy and back to Charlee, his mouth shaped like an 'o', Charlee copying his actions, "Okay, pretty hard." Charlee nodded, "That's what she said." Hawk chuckled to himself, and his joke made Charlee crack a smile but it also made most of her nerves go away.

Hawk quickly gasped, "Ah, I made you smile! I don't think we have properly met, I'm Hawk." the mohawked boy held out his hand and Charlee looked down at it before looking back at Hawk, "Charlee." she smiled once again as she connected their hands.

However cliché this sounds, Charlee swore she felt a spark when she touched his hand and she knew Hawk felt it too, his eye brows raised like he was in shock. And the next thing Charlee knew, she was captured in Hawk's blue ey-

A sharp pain hit the centre of Charlee's face, a strike of pain ran through her body once she hit the ground and the girl felt her hand disconnect from Hawk's as she went down. The pain was still there but Charlotte could slowly feel it fade away and morph into a dull throb, "Fuck!" Charlee seethed, soon tasting the familiar metallic taste in her mouth.

"Shit, Aisha you could have waited until she wad ready." Liv spoke up walking to Charlee's side, and both Hawk and Liv pulled the girl to her feet, seeing blood falling from her nose. The brunette girl looked at her friend in shock before saying, "I'll get the first aid."

While Aisha was punching each kid in the dojo, Hawk and Liv had sat each of the bloodied up ones along the side, giving them a tissue to clean it all up. "You good?" Liv questioned her friend, "Yeah, I'm used to it." Charlee nodded but soon realised her mistake, "I thought you had never been punched before?" Liv furrowed her eye brows, "Yeah-- I mean, no, I've never been punched. I'm just a clumsy person, used to a bit of pain." Charlee lied again for the sake of her life and thankfully Liv believed her.

Charlee looked over to the mat seeing Hawk step up, "Hit me, as hard as you can, I can take it." Hawk said, even though it was like he was trying to prepare himself for what was about to happen. Aisha took his words seriously and took a swing at the boy, easily knowing him to the ground, harder than anyone else. Making all the kids gasp in shock, "He's ok." Aisha nodded after seeing Miguel and Sensei look out, "I'm ok. It's just a tooth." Hawk confirmed as he stood up groaning before sending a playful wink Charlee's way, and she gave an impressed nod.

Liv walked away from Charlee and onto the mat, "Last one's up." Aisha muttered, "Whatever, just get it over and done with." Liv sighed, and everyone watch as Aisha took her last swing at Liv hitting the teenager around the jaw, with only enough force to make Liv stumble back a few steps. "That's gonna leave a mark." the girl groaned rubbing her hand over where she had been hit.

"Once everyone had been hit, you can go home. See you all tomorrow!" Sensei Lawrence called from his office. Charlee stood up, her tissue still held to her nose and she walk over to Liv, "Wanna go to the mall and get something to eat?" Liv questioned, "Yeah, sure I have all the time in the world." Charlee nodded and once the two had changed out of their Gi, they left the dojo and headed for the mall.
