Alessandro Prince Chavicci

My fist slams firmly on top of my desk as Remo's (our new member) words reach my ears. The computer and whiskey shake violently with the vibration against the desk. I glare harshly at the three other men standing in my office but the red fuzz in my eyes blurs my gaze. I turn away from them, placing my hands against the cold glass of the window, taking soothing breaths.

If Sofia were in here, she would do a much better job at settling me than I'm doing for myself. I can barely hear another word that Remo speaks as he explains what's happened to my home. So it seems that the threat by the Russians was more of a guarantee than anything.

No one died, which is good, but my home is in complete ruins. The one place I wanted to spend the rest of my life with my girl is destroyed. I've been waiting for what feels like my whole life for her to live with me there, and it's pure torture that the dream has collapsed.

"Qual è il piano, capo? Non possiamo stare seduti qui ad aspettare che succeda qualcos'altro...giusto?"
[What's the plan, boss? We can't sit here and wait for something else to happen...right?]

"Non ne ho idea. Non voglio mettere nessuno in pericolo, ma non possiamo fare molto da lontano. Luca, cosa ne pensi?"
[I have no idea. I don't want to put anyone in danger, but we can't do much from afar. Luca, what do you think?]

"Dobbiamo distruggere la minaccia. Se non possiamo farlo da qui a Como, allora dobbiamo tornare a Palermo."
[We have to destroy the threat. If we can't do it from here in Como, then we must go back to Palermo.]

"Cosa pensi che i russi vogliono che facciamo? Hanno distrutto la mia casa per farmi stare lontano o farmi tornare indietro?"
[What do you think the Russians want us to do? Did they destroy my home to get me to stay away or get me to go back?]

"Stanno portando la vostra attenzione a casa. Ecco dove dovete andare."
[They're bringing your attention home. That's where you need to go.]

"Qualcuno non è d'accordo con Luca? O siamo tutti d'accordo a tornare indietro?"
[Does anyone disagree with Luca? Or are we all agreed to go back?]

"Se tornassimo indietro, dove stareste tu e Sofia?"
[If we went back, where would you and Sofia stay?]

"Nel magazzino. Come abbiamo fatto prima. È l'opzione migliore finché non capiamo che cazzo sta succedendo."
[In the warehouse. Like we did before. It's the best option until we figure out what the fuck is going on.]

We all nod in agreement and the decision is made. I'm not entirely sure it's the best choice, but Luca is right. I can't do much hiding away in Como, the Russians did get my attention to turn back to Palermo, and I can protect Sofia wherever we are. But there's a slight problem. If we go back, what are the Russians going to destroy next?

Would all of us be safer staying away from the warehouse? If that's where I am now going to have to say, am I walking Sofia and myself into a trap? Clearly, they are after me, but would it be dumb of me to just do what it seems like they want? Luca was pretty confident in going back, and I trust his advice, but I don't know if this is the right call.

However, what else would I do? I don't have all my resources here in Como. I don't have all my team members, the technology, or communication with the government if they were wanting to get involved. Plus, my family and Sofia's family are in Palermo.

They are going to need protection too, and I can't do that from here. So, maybe I am walking directly into a trap, but I don't think I have an option not to. I have to take this risk to make sure no one gets hurt. Fuck. I feel an unexpected hand on my shoulder blade, and I know instantly who it is.
