Alessandro Prince Chavicci
Waiting for Sofia to get back with Ettore, Basilio, Luca, and fucking Remo is insanely difficult. He could be the one who blew up our house and is working with the Russians. Instead of being safe and staying here with me, she goes on a fucking excursion with him. I hear the roaring of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale engine, and I know that my crazy ass wife (who I love so much) is back.
Needing to know that she is completely unharmed and needing to see it in person with my own eyes, I get myself up from my desk and make my way to the back entrance. I chew on my bottom lip as I roll onto the heels of my feet.
She bursts into the warehouse, Basilio and Ettore practically chasing after her. I stumble back slightly as she jumps into my arms, her legs wrapping tightly around my torso. I rapidly speak curse words as I catch myself with one hand and hold her against me with my other.
I nod at the two men behind her, who quickly acknowledge me back, and I carry her into my office. Hot tears hit my neck and shoulder as she sobs into my arms. Feeling so incredibly confused, I run my hands through her hair.
I try to calm the shaking woman, my extremely upset wife, but there's no use. Instead of trying to get her to stop crying, I let her cry. I whisper sweet things in her ear, hoping to comfort her more than force her to not be upset.
After another few minutes, she has calmed herself down which I am most thankful for. Her head lifts up for her red, puffy eyes to meet mine, and my heart physically hurts. It must have been Remo that made her so upset. She was happy in the shower, and then Luca turned up, and the next thing I know the four of them are exiting the house.
All his fucking fault.
"Can you tell me what is upsetting you?"
She nods her head 'yes', digging her face back into my shoulder. I delicately grip the back of her head to force her to face me.
"Who?"
She gives me a pointed look as if she's saying 'are you fucking kidding me'.
"Okay, that was a dumb question, I admit. Can you tell me anything?"
"We should get our families out of Palermo, maybe even Sicily."
"What? Why would we do that?"
"Alessandro, are you even listening to me?"
"I just don't understand."
"I can say more to you without putting people in danger. Our families in danger. Please."
"What about you? Are you in danger?"
"We all are, but they matter most."
"If they accept that plan, we'll get them out of Sicily."
"I learned something else today."
"Oh, yeah? What's that?"
Sofia shifts uncomfortably in my lap for a moment, glancing down at her fiddling fingers. I take a deep breath and settle myself before asking her to continue.
"I learned about Daisy Fiorentino."
"Luca told you."
"Yeah. Why didn't you say anything?"
"You've already seen the horrible parts of me. Killing an innocent girl seemed worse."
"You told me that you never kill innocent people."
